Mk3 upgrade wishes

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

How about a "Dispatcher Override"?

You could open the map screen and reroute a path if you feel that the dispatcher is giving strange paths sometimes. I know that you can set paths via markers, but it'd be nice to adjust things 'on the fly'. :)

I think i've mentioned it somewhere before, but i'd like to see the track list selectable when using the off-set tool.

Cab wobble/movement and much better sounds, sounds like you drive with noise cancelling headphones on when there is no engine noise at the moment.. and these trains have the quietest breaks.... try a first capital connect

I am not a developer, just an end-user, so all i would really like to see in the next upgrade is the rear HST power car sound (lack of it) problem sorting out, a way for the driver to be removed automatically from the rear HST power car if possible, and also the flickering textures problem solved please. These are all problems that should not have been there from the kick-off really.

Cheers,
Terrone. :D

Just a thought...

When starting in Window Mode, the RS window should always center on the screen, as it's a bit of a pain to drag the window upwards 4 out of 5 times.
Cheers!

Or even better it could remember the screen position when last run.

After some more experience in the route editor, here's one...

A tool or facility to select an area of nicely mixed/blended terrain texture (and terrain texture only) in order to copy and paste to another section of the route.

Terrain painting is an incredibly slow and painful process in RS. It all has to be painted longhand - yes every single square km of your route - there are no shortcuts as in TRS (said copy and paste) or MSTS (pre-blended terrtex tiles). Luckily the draw distance before it blurs into a brown smudge is only around 2km from the track but frankly I'm amazed the need for such a basic utility slipped through the planning meetings at Kuju.

Only one thing.

Higher Draw Distance's would be very nice to have.

I'm getting confused with all these upgrades :( , Maybe multiple engine working an option, but only used on double headed workings and HSTs, as if you had TNT (Unless it was serco) would sound abit daft  .

Chris
So long as it was implemented similar to Distant Mountains in MSTS (i.e. a specific terrain colour). I just posted about how tedious terrain painting in RS is even just to 2 or 3km from the track and there's no way I'm going beyond that without some sort of shortcut.

i mean by the fact the Textures and train cars don't become a Block in the distance when they approach you, or when you look down your train.

I believe this would need to be modified at the model level. Existing stock is out of the question, but if you're creating your own, experiment with the error bias settings from 0.0 to -3.0, as it helps control the texture mips. A -1.0 value appears to give the best results.

A distant 2-aspect colour light signal.
A proper ground shunting signal, in addition to the existing 'calling-on' shunt signals.
A repeater signal.
IOW style signal glow (without the excessive glow that can be seen from behind the signal)
TPWS advance arming/trigger grids.
Route indicating colour lights and shunt signals.
