I must add my thanks for MK 2 also. It seems to be working fine with only a couple of minor signalling problems on My Route which will be fixable. The overall impression as you start and run the program seems to be that loading is much smoother than before with a nice clear indicator that something is happening. Also the fact that MK 2 paves the way for other fixes is a great boon. From the list in the Readme file it seems a lot of improvements have been made.
Thanks to all at RSDL, a job well done IMHO.
Regards James.

Again, I can't top what others have just said. A great improvement on the sim as a whole with many fixes done to make it the best train sim yet.. A huge THAK YOU to all the RSDL team into putting a fantastic effort in.. well done.

Best regards

Pete.

I just wanted to say thanks as well. Fortunately I didn't have any of the problems others seem to have had with installing or running the game. I like the new screen resolutions as I run the sim in a window ( widescreen ) and it does look better than before as well as a little smoother ( thought that might be just a illusion ). The only problem I have found is the missing track on the Paddo - Oxford Route which Derek has said will be fixed next week.

I would also like to say thanks. Mine installed fine and loading definitely seems shorter. Thanks again and I will certainly buy any more add ons that come out!

What can I say?
Installed Mk2. No problems with that.
Started to check what's done. The following list can be taken in priority order.
1. Train lights. Nothing is done. We are still driving in total darkness in nighttime. Why not fixed? It's very important feature. I have doubt KUJU's programmes are not able to fix this one.
2. Cars are still spawning and hiding on crossings. Why didn't You remove cars from crossings if crossing system don't work right way?
3. Approaching trains sounds are still totally unrealistic. Nothing new there. Why not fixed yet? You had half year to do that.
4. Game engine is still stuttering. Nothing has changed.
5. Dispatcher is as faulty and poor as before upgrade. Sometimes it don't find path for my (or AI) train even in simplest places and cases. You can still make only basic and straightforward scenarios. No shunting is possible over mainline (game engine fails).
Big problem here is confusing train priority system. For example: When I'm starting scenario with only single loco and will later couple cars somewhere after 20 miles of running I can't choose 'Light engine' because after couopling it's not anymore only 'light engine'. But You can't change priority. And what happenes if I'm coupling passanger cars and going to drive passanger train? You can't change priorities in the middle and that makes priority system pointless.
6. German electric locos are still accelerating like rockets. Nothing is fixed here.
7. List of enhancements reports about functioning timetable. Where is it? Why can't I see any timetable there??? You name it improvement?

Here was enough for me. Those are just few things I found during first 15 minutes testing. And it all took half year for RSD to make Mk2 ??? Unbelievable.

RS is uninstalled from my computer TO FOREVER NOW. There is just no any hope left this program will someday be what real railsimmers were waiting for. I'm totally disappointed (read: [deleted by moderator]). Too less has been done for improving simulation as such. RSD has wasted time again. I even bought Isle Of Wight addon because hope was they will improve the simulation. But I was totally wrong. That was just waste of money. In current state there is no any reason to buy add-ons.
Now back to MSTS until World Of Subways and MSTS 2 are coming out. I think many trainsimmers are already left RS community. Sure. At least in my country I was last one who still believed in that simulator. Now there's no one left. Congratiulations. You got it. We gave You half year to fix everything but it seems You never learn. Sad.

Oh well, sorry you feel that way.
Thanks for buying the IOW though, we don't think it was a waste.

Those are problems but I think what makes this game special is that after being kicked by Microsoft Kuju created a great simulator without Microsoft's almost unlimited bank. Kuju has dropped RS and RSDL has been formed. A small company like Kuju makes a game that got more attention than many simulators before it came out. It is a UK Simulator, a European simulator and this is why MSTS2 will not appeal in the same way. It will not feature UK routes like RS does and will not provide the signs and items I see whenever I go to the station here in the UK. RSDL/Kuju has shown us what can be done with hard work and dedication.

Problems have occured but unlike Auran and MS RSDerek and his band of merry men have been on the forums. When was the last time Microsoft came here to talk personally with people? When did Auran do that? Technical support is 10/10, the game will be 10/10 when everything is fixed and the community is excellent.

Thank You Rail Simulator Development Limited, Kuju and EA Games.

'Klaabu', I really feel you have over-reacted. Regarding number 5, you just have to learn how the sim works. Each piece of track has a property, either mainline (allows everything), freight (freight-only), passenger (passenger-only) and yard which allows everything. The problem we have is that these properties are pretty pointless to be honest because passenger-only lines can not have anything with a freight priority run over them and vice-versa. I suggested that most lines be made to Mainline or Yard where possible and only in exceptional circumstances are the passenger and freight properties used but I only managed to get one or two lines changed in the end, I've yet to look at the exact fixes for Mk2 in the Hagen - Siegen line which I feel is the one you have a lot of interest in but if you perservere, it's relatively easy to see what is what and get things pathed. You can see track properties by pressing space, Mainline is yellow, Freight is red, Passenger is blue, Yard is brown.

I fully agree with drwho200 about the terrific support we have which is way beyond the call of duty and not easy for a small team to achieve. But because of this I feel that I almost know the likes of Derek and Adam even though I have never met them. Being older I am reminded this is the sort of customer support that used to be common place when I was it my early twenties from small but dedicated companies.
I also agree with Richard about the Track Properties. You need to use this area of the properties with care or major problems can occur in Scenarios. If used well it can in fact make things a lot easier because it gives the Route Builder options about which lines can be used for freight etc. thus easing possible problems at congested areas such as large junctions.
Regards James.

Exactly, being probably on the of the youngest here I haven't got the memory of the good experience you have had but I have experienced it in other ways in different places now and again. I think Derek, Adam and all of RSDL should get some kind of recognition for what you have described. About the Track Properties, as a Route Builder and creator of the first downloadable route for RS I didn't have much time to study all these things but the helpful website has allowed me to venture a little deeper and now I understand quite a bit. I now even have all the main line in my route electrified and connected, something which I could not have done 6months ago.

klaabu, ther isnt to many games beeing released a 100% ready becaus the making of the game would take too long, and ofter the solution of one problem causes another, the only way to be able to help the developers is to calmley report the bugs and errors and not get [deleted by moderator] as soon as ther is somthing faulty and uninstalling the game as soon as you spot somthing you do not like, sure you could expect that the lightproblems would have been resolved by now, but they arent and we will just have to deal with that, and the purpos with this thread was to thank the RSDL team for the work they have done, Isle of wight is a fantastic route and the class 66 pack is fantastic too, sure the MK2 uppdate was in the makings for a long time but that doesnt mean it was suposed to fix every problem for that, they have to test stuff too. i hope you calm down and try to get it to work to, i had some problems in the begining with the sim but when i started to learn everything every problems with the sim i had dispapered, i would not trust that MSTS 2 will be a 100% bug free either and to expect that will be to expect to much, i still think RS is a great simulator and i understand people hav had problems with the MK2 uppdate , but i havent had any problems with it an my game is runing smoothly as ever.
