Re: Thanks for The IOW Route
Old stuff really, already discussed on here in length. I personally felt it was a nice model but poorly executed with regards to the liveries - It's my own opinion that if you buy a commercial product it shouldn't have to (need to? - depends on your point of view I suppose) be improved with a better freeware upgrade (the EWS livery in this case). After the glory that was the 08 I felt the Cl 66 was disappointing in that respect. Like I say...old stuff now, but it was the first time I have been unhappy with a rail sim product.sjbaker34 wrote:Why disappointed with class66 add on ?
Its not meant to be a direct like for like comparison. Just a comment....however if you do compare the Cl 66 for the Cl 483 I think there is a difference in standard with regards to the liveries on each model - I think this is backed up by the lack of freeware reskins replacing the default RSDL ones on the IOW stock on this site compared to the Cl 66 which has several - mainly for the EWS livery.TheTazman wrote:I was going to ask this same question. Re: Thanks for The IOW Route
Hi Steve
I may have got the situation wrong but the class 66's were probably shipped without liveries due to the problems associated with using the registered logos/designs of real life rail operators. RSDL may have not been able to obtain the necessary permissions in time or at all so by shipping without them and letting a third party 'not for profit' person/organisation provide the liveries, the situation stays within the law and we get our class 66's sooner rather than later. This does not necessarily apply to liveries of rail operators who are no longer in business.

I think you may be refering to "Fixed Distant Signals"
