When I start RS, the computer freezes. There are no error messages. Computer specs are:

Graphics card: MSI GeForce 6200AX
Motherboard: MS7177CT
Chipset: VIA VT82C694X
BIOS: Ver 1.65
Processor: Intel Pentium III, 1.1 GHz
Memory: 768 MB RAM
DirectX: 9.0c
Can anyone help ?
Thanks.

Re: Computer freezes when RS is started
Minimum Requirements to run Rail Simulator
OS: Windows XP with latest service pack installed / Windows Vista
CPU: XP - Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 1.7 GHz or equivalent.
Vista - Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon 2.6GHz or equivalent
RAM: 512 MB
GFX: 64MB DirectX 9.0c compliant card with at least Pixel Shader 2.0
SFX: DirectX 9.0c compatible
HDD: 4.5 GB of space is required to install the game
At a glance your processor is below minimum requirements plus also after checking your graffix card I could find no mention of any pixel shader version.
Even if you could run the program with the low speed processor (would probally be at a snails pace) your graphic card would be unable to handle the program.
Hope this helps
Regards Tony

Re: Computer freezes when RS is started
I note your other thread about reinstalling, so I have to ask did it work before because I think it might be the fact that your pc doesn't meet the minimum requirements to run the game ( the pentium III is the problem I think ).

Hello,
The game has never run on this computer.
However, before reinstalling the problem was a non compatible graphics card. I then installed the GeForce 6200 that is listed in the Readme compatibility list.

Nvidia 6200 is enough to do the job;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_shader
But the CPU is not;

Click the "Select Product" dropdown, choose Rail Simulator and run the test.

Re: Computer freezes when RS is started
correadequeiros, I'm afraid I need to suggest you invest in hardware before trying KRS.
I ran it on a 6150 (on-board), and it worked, but most of the graphics settings were on or near minimum, and resolution was 800x600. CPU was some cheap Athlon, but bought in 2007.
With a Pentium 3, you are getting nowhere.
All the eye-candy comes at a prices.
Even if you manage to run the game on a system like the one I mentioned, you do not benefit too much from it. You can use the great new route editor, but you cannot build densely populated routes, simply because your framerates will drop too much.
