Not Quite what it seems

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Interesting!!
Double chimney variants.. :D
What about the possibility of headboards.....trouble is they would be permanently on the loco I guess.
Thanks for your superb coach reskins...really enjoying them, thanks ever so much!

Hi Mark
Yep Headboards.. you are right though each loco would be individual.... at the moment........there may be a way by treating the headboard as Cargo... so empty no headboard. loaded ...... named headboard is the cargo.

Same as lamps I can now put on whatever headcode lamps I want and I suppose if I did diesels I could put in their headcodes too, although a second number set would be a nicer way.

Nameplates for you Brush 4's or IC125's quite easy to do :D

Hi Overmaze

Yep it is fictional but has a basis.. the 5XP Jubilee class were essentially externally similar in many ways to the Black 5, and as its early days in the Sim I think I am possibly justified in doing a quick representation to fill the stock book...

Way back when all locos were black with grime they actually took some telling apart, the Splashers over the driving wheels gave it away (and no you couldn't always read the numbers straight away lol)
So now I've got my head round adding components I thought some splashers and nameplates would be a good exercise.. repaint thrown in too.

Can't help wondering why RSDL didn't put plates on the red 5XP..

Just a suggestion, would it look a bit better with the running plate and splashers lowered a bit? But that would mean the cylinders would need adjusting in height a bit as well. On second thoughts if you jiggle about with too much you might as well do a Jubilee from scratch! Perhaps disregard this message!
I personally would prefer not to see that white diagonal line on the cab side. I know it's correct for the electrified WCML period, but I've always thought it an ugly idea of BR's.
There were one or two named Black 5s though and if my memory serves me right, they had one dummy splasher with the nameplate on, if that's a good idea for a reskin?
Thanks for all your other coaches, etc., all excellent stuff.
Regards from an Old Chap.

Hi Old Chap

Nope I'm afraid i can't move anything on the Kuju Stock... only add stuff over the top :D

I put the stripe on to make the loco look a bit different and make it stand out, (besides i quite like them :D )

A jubilee would be useful and fit in quite well but I think it will be quite a time before anyone makes one... lots of stanier 4-6-0's around

Sly

Edit I was asked about the named black5's by someone... I tried to point them in the right direction and It wouldn't be fair to stealk their idea, but this shows it can be done

Very nice I must say...
there were 4 named black 5s all were in the Scottish Region, 45154 and 3 others named after Scottish Regiments, there are a couple been named in preservation as well.

The Jubilee class was the loco's I used to fire on the Bristol Sheffield run when I was at Saltley loco. They had a bigger boiler with a bit more of a taper than the 5's and also had bigger diameter driving wheels hence the splashers, not forgeting that they were 3 cyl as well. I will always remenber the Puff, puff, puff, chuff, chuff, chuff, 6 beats per revolution'.

If you put a double chimney on may as well got the hog and put on blinkers and do 46100 Royal Scot!

Hi sly
Thats a fine looking Loco you have there. The details you have added freshen it up nicely.

Best regards
Mike
