Re: RS Devtools will not install
Where did you get your Mk1 RS update? There was a version hosted on UKTrainsim for a while that gave that problem with the new DevTools. Try the RS update hosted on the RS site instead. Then the new DevTools should install ok.
Uninstall RS. Reinstall RS, install update from RS site and then install DevTools from RS site. That should work.

Took 15 hours of line time to download latest dev tools, don't think i will try to get the update from RS the frustration will kill me.
I will consider my options, sadly may have to give up RS for the time being. Not made for slow dial up.
MSTS still lives Thankfully

Not being funny but why are you still using dial up?
It was good in it's day but that was 10 years ago or more.
Broad band is just as cheap and most providers throw the modem in for free.

Derek

Derek, he lives in a part of Australia where they do not have broadband coverage. Also Austria, central Europe, there are significant areas without any broadband, cable based nor air based.
Lindsay, I guess you got the wrong version of the tools, but not all is lost. One of the two should work:
1) Install KRS, apply patch, install tools.
2) Install KRS, install tools, apply patch.
Although, looking at your description, I am not too sure whether you got an old version of the tools (which would mandate sequence 2). At least it would be worth the effort to try the one sequence of the two that you did not attempt yet, compared to your download times.

Re: RS Devtools will not install
Hiya,
You wont be able to install the latest RSDevTools without Upgrade Mk1. That is a requirement. You also wont be able to install the latest RSDevTools over the top of the old RSDevTools after you have applied the Upgrade Mk1. This is because Upgrade Mk1 updates the DevTools you already had installed.
There are only two options you can take if you want the latest RSDevTools:
An alternative optionn is to get in touch with UKTrainSim themselves via email and see if they will be willing to mail you (potentially at cost), one of the Cd's they produced for their UKTrainSim live shows. This CD contains Upgrade Mk1 for Rail Simulator as well as all the official content RSDL have released since October 2007.
So all might not be lost
