Industries used in KRS

How come when I wrote a query regarding the industries available in KRS, asking others if they knew what other ones besides the coal loader/unloader, were available for use in the sim itself, to date, 111 persons read or glanced at the question, but not one bothered to tell me if they knew or not, what else was available. Surely others who own a copy of the sim, have tried these themselves, and found out what they are ??
I don't recall seeing any documentation regarding the total sum of industries, and which wagons are used with which industries, and asked if anyone else knew what they were, hoping someone would at least know. Does this mean that KRS is too hard for most users to master ? Better documentation would have helped the situation, no doubt. But I'm still hopeful that someone amongst the ones who replied to my other messages, may read this and be able to enlighten me.

I think it means that most of us are still at the stage of learning how to terraform, what entries to put in the blueprints, how to lay track, what is a bug and what is a feature request, should we really be fiddling with the xml, who are the heroes and who are the villains, and is Vista the root of all evil ? (TIC)
RS is a great step forwards, and the Dev Docs are written (in my mind anyway) for people with a far greater knowledge of Sims and techniques than newcomers could be expected to know; the terminology is daunting, and one of the things I want to start building up in the Wiki is a glossary. So I'm not surprised that nobody has so far investigated the industries. I hope someone does, because I'd like coal loading at the colliery on the route I'm working on, and possibly market produce in the wagons.
You could make a start yourself by looking at the delivery day scenario where the 7F backs down into the coal loading stage and fills up the tender. Both the coaler and the tender will have special properties to allow this to happen, and once you've identified that, you might then be able to search through the files for the mineral wagons and see similar features in them as well.

Like Adam said, most likely no one knew much. And 1:100 is not too far off the average.
All I can suggest is using the search function to dig out a thread I saw a while ago where someone actually made a list of locations where such interactives are found.

This tends to happen sometimes in some areas of the Forum. The areas I always get a reply from are the specialist sections. eg Signalling, Route Building or help for Beginners and the people who reply are always helpful and informative.
I have had up to 300 views and no replies to some of my posts in the past. I usually assume that the reason is one of the following.
1. Nobody is able to answer the Question. It maybe a problem that is unknown or unique to your system
2. The Question has an obvious answer that I should have searched for.
3. Everyone is very busy with their own projects and maximising time to reply to post that are particularly important to them as Adam points out
4. If I am in a very cynical mood I assume that in the case of display work that nobody thinks it is good enough for a comment or people are getting fed up with my posts and choose to ignore me.
5. I am pretty certain however that the above is not true and like most people involved in Forums or Usenet that one is allowed to be a little paranoid on occasions.
Having said this I have always found the people on these forums to be extremely helpful and polite some spending considerable amounts of time responding to a post in detail.
The one thing that does annoy me is after replying to a post in some detail with a possible solution that I get no reply if it worked or not or even a thanks for replying. I always try to reply to all my posts where someone has been good enough to respond. If I cannot reply for whatever reason to an answer to one of my posts within a reasonable time I always apologies for a late reply and I have had similar apologies for late replies myself.
Good manners cost nothing and the vast majority of the users here show excellent manners and consideration for other users.
Kind Regards James

The other annoyance with forums at times is where as you said you give a solution to a problem but others have added comments etc as well and the person who has the problem or question obviously didn't read all the posts as they carry on asking the same question.

Hi,
Not aiming this at anyone, it is just something I have noted over the past 6 months and you have touched on the subject.
This is the first time I have interacted on a forum and I am shocked by the lack of manners shown by many people.
It's not like I broke into their house or anything but that’s just how some people talk to you even after you have spent hours trying to help. Yes I get paid to work on Rail Simulator but I do not get paid to respond to public forums, If I did I’d be minted!
However, those people that do try to help others and give your time and knowledge, you guys have my utmost respect.
regards
Derek

Par for the course, unfortunately. Some though are very appreciative via PMs and emails, thank you to you all who take the trouble.

Hehe, a friend of mine on another forum's signature says:
The Internet: Annonymity + Audience = total ****wad!
Honestly I get disappointed at this forum sometimes, but I often put the rudeness down to people's full on obsession with this hobby. People have been rivet counting for years about railways, the advent of digital railways and the improvement of PC capabilites and standards has pushed this to the n'th degree (not a lot of moaning about Southern Belle back in the day with it's miles of.. well, nothing!)
On the whole though, if you think this place can get a little hot under the collar, try a First Person Shooter forum or an MMORPG forums, those places are just out of control

I don't have any more time for other forums, I don't even have time to finish Halo 3!
You guys have me tied to the tracks!

The lack of manners is indicative of the way society in general has become. It's just easier to be bad mannered over the internet because you have no direct contact with the people you are dealing with and despite popular belief that this applies more to the younger generation I have in my experience found this not to be true. People of any age can be rude and show bad manners.
Kind Regards James

It's a partly a typing thing, and partly the lack of any visual interaction; the same people who seem brusque or rude in forums and on usenet turn out to be (generally) pleasant in face to face conversations, in my experience. It is too easy to fire off a sentence or two without thinking fully of the impact it might have on the recipients. Equally, when reading other people's posts, it is very easy to get inflamed at what you believe to be the author's tone. I blame graphics cards, myself; I never saw this problem back in the days of Bulletin Boards and Fidonet
