RSDL Developer Day

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

I'd certainly be interested assuming I'm available :) I'd even be happy to set up a camcorder / laptop combo to capture the day on film (or on hard drive, as the case may be) as I agree with Andi that it would be useful to others. However filming the day leads to the inevitable question of why some should pay while others get to "attend" for free, so that would need looking into / debating at a later stage.

As to the location, I'd imagine somewhere fairly central - in terms of transport links rather than actual geography - would please most, rather than London which would only really be "the best place" for those who live in and around it. For me and no doubt many others it would be easier to reach if it was hosted in a field on the Scottish border than if it was in London (seriously). Birmingham, Manchester and - a bit closer to home - Crewe would get my votes as "easy-to-reach" locations. A poll at a later date for those attending will probably be the best way to decide though.

Cheers,

JB

Well if it's data you're after;

I'm definitely interested in this. I study up in Middlesbrough during term, and live down near Cambridge during holidays. I'd be relying on rail transport unless it was very close, in which case I could catch a ride.

The answer is easy: Those who attend have the chance to ask. Plus without any doubt there will be lots of chatting that no one will tap and usually the real good bits get communicated there, not in the talks, just because a personal answer to a personal question helps people much more than big talks about slightly related issues.

Nonetheless, any recordings will be a valuable source for non-UK people (and thanks from us to all who join the effort). But I doubt that a single person who is interested and can make it will sit back at home and wait for someone's videos.

Besides, the fee will only be to cover venue cost and food, not a big sum to produce exclusivity.

So - Developer Day with the RSDL team. If you wish to attend, let us know.
Sorry Adam, I got a bit carried away :) Basically, I was trying to say count me in provided I can get there on a reasonable budget. Failing that, I would love to see any notes, slides and/or videos.

Count me in. :D I'd certainly be interested in what developments are planned and have suggestions of my own. :D I recognise that the willingness of the development team to engage directly with the community will be to the benefit of all of us. :D

Venue to be debated - but hopefully will indeed become annual. :D

Peter - thought it was lock & load (Ooops wrong game)
