Dynamic Braking

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Dynamic Braking

Post by commodore »

I downloaded the US content and ran the Cajon route with the SD-40. It does not seem that the dynamic brakes are working. Anyone else have this problem?
I tried keyboard, and moving the brake handle manually, no result and no indication of the usual "whine."

Check out the US board - Train-sim.com. There you will find a multitude of posts about what the other colonials think is wrong with their version of RS - number one gripe is NO Dynamic Braking! Wouldn't hold your breathe on getting a speedy fix from RS - Derek mentioned in another post that MK2 upgrade is months off, with no commitment as to whether that issue is even on the list...

They would not post my reply. It used the "s" word. That is the 6 letter "s" word whose dictionary definitions are:

–adjective 1. lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind; dull.
2. characterized by or proceeding from mental dullness; foolish; senseless.
3. tediously dull, esp. due to lack of meaning or sense; inane; pointless.
4. annoying or irritating; troublesome.
5. in a state of stupor.
6. Slang. excellent; terrific.

I would call attention to the moderators -- definition 6. excellent; teriffic.

Let us not pre-judge intent, such is the road to tyranny

Dynamic braking is truly broken in the North American version of the sim. A few of us have tried to find the bug but it seems it must be a program bug of some kind, and not file related. I hope it gets fixed in the next update.
