In the short term perspective, it is certainly right that there are a lot of UK routes (and that there is a sound reason for that). In the long term perspective, payware setups around the world watch the sales figures with interest. As soon as sales reach a certain level, it becomes viable for them to invest into the development of a route.

Sales will not go up before some of the operational issues are fixed. Not the complete list, but timetables, AI traffic, signalling basics. Then, there will be no more disadvantages over MSTS (accept for the countless models already available for the latter), and then people can fully enjoy the superior graphics. Then, the current reluctance in many quarters will disappear.

Until then, the best thing the art team can do is a) develop a reference route which shows off KRS at its best and sets the target for commercial developers, and b) share their developers knowledge, as announced in another thread. Plus, the development of this route contradicts those who predicted that they will go away after the first patch.

I wouldnt have guessed Island line if it hadnt been said already, that said the first shot does seem to feature a signalbox in the background which looks very much like brading. But seeing as most of the line is wooden sleepered on rough n ready shingle ballast im not convinced yet... hmmm would seem an odd choice to be honest, if a very welcome one :)

Some good guesses.

But I would not read too much into the track, it is not final and infact that track is still the test peice we did months ago.
The artists are working on scenery objects at present, track will be done last as it is not holding anyone up.
It's all about the critical path...

Its a step in the right direction, but I think "superb" is a little generous. The 3D sleepers do look nice, but what we're really waiting for there is an update to allow them to be used in junctions. I for one am eagerly awaiting 3rd rail, but that aspect clearly has a way to go. At the moment it is just a third rail of the same profile as the running rails, which is obviously not correct, and we haven't seen end ramps, junctions, or even the 3rd rail swap sides yet...

Here's hoping 3rd rail isn't too far down the list Derek, it might not be holding anyone at RS up, but as for the rest of us...

Good to know it is in development though.

After seeing that google map i'm certain that's the Isle of Wight line now - that and the fact Derek has said publicily that RSDL are building a 03 shunter it would all seem to fit into place.

I wonder if Derek would confirm if RSDL either are, or are going to build either class 483 or 485.

ahhh good point! i'd forgotten about the 03, it must be the IoW surely (dont forget RSDL the roofs were lowered on 79 and 179 after they attempted to take chunks out of Ryde St Johns canopy and various bridges...) Apologies in advance Derek and Adam, but seeing as i can *hear* the trains rattling across the marsh it might be hard not to pull you up on the inevitable innacuracies... :D

I suspect that the period will be NSE, as they wont need to get permission for the logos. and the dinosaur livery would be hell to stick on a texture...

Hmmm, I think you'll find there will be no inaccuracies in our future routes.
:)
Not making any excuses about the shipped routes, what is done is done.
Future routes have/will be researched by myself and or our dedicated team and not people looking to have a 'jolly day out'.
All stations will be modeled and important features and details noted to the best of our abilities.
Obviously there will be time restraints and asset restrictions, after all we all work to schedules.
However I am fairly confident that people will be pleased with our results.
