Branch line Gradients Diagrams/Maps

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Branch line Gradients Diagrams/Maps

Post by B1ggles »

I have BR Main line Gradient profiles for the whole of the UK, but as to date I am unable to find any publications to cover the branch lines.
Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately there is no overall comprehensive publication that I am aware of.

Best bet is to check if an Oakwood Press or Middleton Press publication covers the line you are interested in, as these usually contain the gradient profile.

Sometimes "Googling" produces results, for example the Fairford branch happened not to have the profile in the Middleton book but I did find a web site that reproduced it.

Failing that, use best guess from the terrain heights and position of cuttings/embankments etc. It's a fair bet if there's no publically available profile, no one will inspect (or criticise) your interpretation too deeply!
