Sounds good to me.

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Sounds good to me.

Thanks to Phat2003uk (Richard Armstrong) and Jon Bilton for the
"Replacement Coach Bogie Sounds for Mk1/Mk2 and Pre-1970 Stock", easy installer and they sound the business.

Give them a try and see what you think.

No problem at all, am glad you like it :). I was certainly very happy with them except for the abrupt sound change at 56mph, I still haven't managed to pin-point why this is happening.

Hi Richard,

I had no idea about the sound change at 56mph as I've only been running behind a Jinty on a 'Local' (top speed 40mph) so hadn't realised.

I prefer 'slow speed' running with Steam, I think the sounds are better, so I don't think it will affect me too much.

Can I ask - what is different about these sounds than the default ones?

Richard,I don't think there is anything wrong with the sound change once 56 mph is reached,I had the black 5 with a rake of 8 coaches thundering along at 70mph and it sounded fantastic, this is just what RS needs.Iv'e even played the scenarios on the S&D,passing another train hauling the Mk1 coaches,it's pretty convincing hearing those sounds coming from 2 passing trains.I even tried some Mk1's on the Deltic on the York to Newcastle, give it a good old thrash, enjoyed every minute of it.

Hello

The problem is only an abrupt transition between 55 to 57mph. Either side it sounds fine as you heard :). And I agree, I think the sounds bring an atmosphere when thundering along at 70mph in a Black 5.

I downloaded the sounds and tried them out with a quick run from York - Darlington, they definately give much more sense of speed, so yes, a big thanks to Richard and Jon

Great sounds, really enhanced my pleasure using the passenger view :D sounds reminiscent of the class 312 sounds on msts? Don't care though as it's much beter than the snare drum  Speaking of which can they be turned off??? :icecream: Thanks for the sounds appreciate the effort, i have to say it sounds better going under bridges too much more realistic imo.

Cheers Mart

Just seen the video clip of the new sounds and will be installing them ASAP. They sound great and a million times better than the terrible default sounds. I love RS and think it's the No.1 Trainsim without question but I can't for love nor money work out how anyone in their right mind decided that those track sounds were good enough to make the final cut for the game. It is by far the biggest let down of the game for me.
The classic sound of wheels on rails is one of the most iconic things about railways and in this aspect RS has failed with a Z minus!!
Is there any plan afoot to adapt the track sound for the cab view too as this is where most of the sim is spent for me?? anything would be better than the default.

P.S. The only good thing about the default sounds is the track running sounds (the background hum of steel on steel) but to make my point specific it is the clackity clack we all know and love that is appallingly reproduced.
