Patch/Upgrade

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

ToACE has stopped converting bmps that are non-square since I updated.
Bit of a problem as I have been using rectangular textures on models.

Anyone else noticed this?

Hmm, you are not wrong! Changes were made to the app to allow ace files to be turned back into bmp/tga files.

I'll inquire what can be done about this.

I'm having no success trying to install the Dev.tools and having followed the instructions to the letter (reinstalling Rail Simulator & adding the patch before adding the Dev.tools) i'm still getting the incompatible with the current version message.

Suggestions please.

Thanks.

Are you using the correct patch ? If in doubt redownload it from RSDL to ensure you have it also redownload the latest dev tools and try again.

After installing the Mk1 upgrade, my railsimulator now runs really jerky, there is no sence of speed when you are driving, the graphics on the other trains look ., and they graphics on the game are no where near as good as before the upgrade......Have adjusted the graphic settings bac to how they were, but still looks, ......

Strange, spoils it for me, back to MSTS i think....

Dissapointed...

Strangely enough, I was just about to say the exact opposite! I had always thought there was a little something not quite right with the sense of speed given by the UK release of the sim. Something I could never quite put my finger on. Anyway, I was belting along through Slough over the weekend, and it occurred to me that this had been fixed by the patch and it was now pretty accurate.

Of course, I can only give my own opinion.

Frame rates have improved by slightly for me too. Still only in the high teens and low twenties, but its enough for me based on the age of my hardware. One thing that does get to me is the jerking. I have noticed that this usually only happens when the hard drive is being used, so I was thinking maybe chucking another gig of RAM in would help (I only have the one at present).

Hi,two patches and still no mention of RAILDRIVER,has it been swept under the carpet ?,I like R S very much but as my fingers are not so nimble as they used to be I find useing the key board more difficult than the levers on RAILDRIVER,sorry to be a bit of a pain as this is my second post on the subject but it seems no one seems to be interested, maybe we are just a minority users, please if theres any indication from the powers that be to pass on information about the future of RAILDRIVER in R S,many thanks.

Yeah but PI Engineering haven't released files.
Kuju should have sent them a copy as soon as they could to make it work. Shame.

You sound so much like the users of the system i work on.
But you've had the bug report for 3 months,
Yes but I am still working on this huge bug from 2 years ago.

Has anyone any experience installing on a Vista 64bit system?

I was called in by a neighbour this morning and he had proceeded on his brand new system as follows

1. Installed EU version of RailSim from CD
2. Downloaded the Update Mk1 and DevTools from RS own site
3. Installed the update - that works fine
4. Clicked on the DevTools installer and was told 'Incompatible with this version of Rail Simulator'

These were the versions of Update and Devtools dated just a few days ago from RSDL's own site, so should be correct.

Is this a Vista 64 problem? Any ideas appreciated.
