Video Settings Comparison

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Video Settings Comparison

Post by Sly401 »

Thought i'd paste a couple of screenshots to show what a difference vid card and settings can and does make

In the early days I reskinned Mk1's to maroon and on my then main rig I got this result

Image

Which kinda looked acceptable to me

However I put together a new rig and screen and the same coaches now look like the one on the left ... a big difference

Image

The coach on the right is the refurbished reskin avail soon :D

I think it highlights the problem that reskinners have

BTW both displays were optimized

For the people that D/Loaded the original Maroon reskins.. which is closer to what you see ?

I need to know soI can take a guess as to what saturation levels would suit the majority

Thanks

Hi Sly,
On my machine I'm getting something more akin to what is shown in the original picture in Bath Green Park. Nowhere near as washed out as what you seem to be getting now.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the reskins by the way!

My coaches look more like the one on the right of your picture but slightly more "worn" perhaps.

The one on the left looks like the ones I remember running out of Windermere on the local service to Oxenholme in the early sixties.

But I think they were even dirtier. :D

Thanks for all your hard work .

The one on the right is the nearest to what I see on My PC which is not the best or fastest by any means. The coaches look fantastic IMHO on my own system. So no complaints here at all.

Thanks Guys

I was worried that that first batch was too weak in saturation and I had made a fool of myself lol :D
Now my fears are the new batch are too rich..... I may put a couple out on beta test if anyone wants to volounteer

But it does show that not everyone sees the same

Catcha

Having the same deal here;

Suspect if they ever do come up with a patch to fix the lighting we'll have to reskin and reupload some of this stuff, so I'm not trying to do anything serious at the moment. For now if it looks like it's too dark in the editor, darken it a bit more!
