Birmingham to Tamworth Route uploaded but

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Searching through the RS folders I found the route in the routes folders.

It's called 69eefd32-22d3-48e0-ac5e-303d93d12b3a :o

But it doesn't seem to have updated the routes .bin file, as all I can find there are the 4 default routes.

Is there some file I should be deleting, like the blueprints.pak file so that RS will update itself to show the new route ?

Hi all, same problem here, the route unpacked ok to the contents\Routes folder of Rail Simulator and shows up there as 69eefd32..... , but does not appear in the simulator routes list and when running "RS_Tools_The Missing_Bits" there is no sign of it there either when checking the routes and senarios

Same here! Route installed successfully but no where to be seen in the Route Lists.

Pity! I was looking forward to seeing Bromford and Castle Bromwich stations!

Not forgetting the premier loco depot ..... Saltley!

humm sorry to hear its not showing, it showed ok on my mates computer when I did a trail run... will think on what to do next.. The reason for the seperate files from other uploaders is because i could not include them in my route as they belong to others and they might not like it, so if you download them yourselves its ok. back to the drawing board, what I did change was to delete all the Bath Templecombe tiles so that the bath route did not show, hope I can find something. By the way have the B'ham Tam names been added to the jump to list, may give us a clue, they come from the developer01 file? Another thing it came off my 'D' drive, it has not tried to put it there on yours?

Regarding the scenary, it is given that uploaded scenary can be used on any route, just a mention on a readme suffices. After all, what would be the point of uploading a scenary item if there was a possbility the author would not grant permission for use in a route.

yes, I just packed the route using the package creator, there was no requesting info on extra files now I come to think on it, perhaps they are packaged, there is no where to add them?

I f it shows in your routes .xml file it must be in the routes.bin file as the .xml is just the .bin after running through serz.exe.

I wonder if a copy of the .xml file you posted could be copied into another persons .xml and then run through serz to create the .bin file.

Tell you what I'll have ago and see what happens. :crazyeyes:

I'll let you know.

Well I've done that and now "The Missing Bits" can see it but it still doesn't register in the routes in RS.

Its like when you add the re-skins of engines and have to delete the blueprints file before RS can see the new items.

I,m stumped for now but will give it further consideration at work :-? tomorrow.

ok its not putting those codes in .. see message above, for now if you copy and paste them in the Routes.xml at the bottom between

</cRouteProperties>

PASTE IT HERE

</Record>
</cRecordSet>

using the rs tools editor or the missing bits.. it should work....

I have been working on Version 2 which was completely done as should be (grin) I will upload it in a couple of days, but this will get you going very soon as all the track round Saltley is redone (much better)

MMM more problems, I created a new route and in the routes.xml put in

<sGeoPosition>
<Lat d:type="sFloat64" d:alt_encoding="46B6F3FDD4B04940" d:precision="string">51.3815</Lat>
<Long d:type="sFloat64" d:alt_encoding="88855AD3BCE3FBBF" d:precision="string">-1.7431</Long>
</sGeoPosition>
</Origin>
<MapOffset>
<sMapCoords>
<Easting d:type="sFloat64" d:alt_encoding="000000006083E540" d:precision="string">44059.0000</Easting>
<Northing d:type="sFloat64" d:alt_encoding="0000000006B75541" d:precision="string">5692440.0000</Northing>
</sMapCoords>
</MapOffset>
<ZoneNumber d:type="sInt32">30</ZoneNumber>
<ZoneLetter d:type="cDeltaString">U</ZoneLetter>

which should make things ok, now this shows in the routes.xml great. loads good and runs ok... but the dam thing flys to long 5. instead of the -1 and there is nothing there,,, but the senario works great just wrong long and lat showing... (I copied and pasted the contents of the old file into the new route file) The only way round that is to redo the whole thing, but it taken 100's of hours so far.. I suppose I could just copy those missing codes into a routes.xml file as a 'fix' on their own and you let it 'overwrite' the original..

Whilst I agree with you, scenary items are not fair game.
You must abide by what it states in the readme, if it does not say feel free to use it as you wish, or something like that, then you still need to ask for permission to use it.
