Frame rates

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Frame rates

Post by monster666 »

Has anyone noticed if you turn the track monitor off you can get better frame rates. I was driving along with the track monitor on and after closing it I notived my frame rate jumped up by 10 fps.

Yep. One of the reasons it could do with simplifying :)

I've noticed that when you have a rate of 15 fps, then open track monitor it doesn't drop any further - which is a good thing as the game would grind to a halt. :o

i've noticed that for me, the Frame rate display (shift+Z) doesn't Ever go lower than 14 even when its clearly much lower than that, and it doesn't go any higher than 15 unless i'm on a custom made route with just railway track and no scenery.

A New Graphics card will not necessarily help

Check your CPU usage, this game seems bound by CPU more than GPU unless running monster resolutions
