I can't install the revised DevTools. The installer quits and displays the message. 'Missing Media-Please Re-insert disk and retry installation' though that does nothing to help the installation. The disk is in the DVD and is accessed painfully slowly every time the sim loads, which is bad enough without an installation processes being hijacked. The exe. files in my installation are the originals too.

You do not need the DVD in the drive to install the Dev Tools or Documents.

Whats been fixed in the new verson anyone know????
Edit
Dec 01 We've released a new version of the RSDevTools. This fixes two reported problems; Packager crashes and track linked objects editing. Get the downloads from the RSDevTools box on the right.
You can install this version straight over your existing version.
Ill take it as the signals have been fixed...

All I can say is they definitely don't install on my system. (Windows xp Home, fully updated) The previous version will re-install once the 1.0.2 installation has failed, with the request for the DVD, though this makes no difference since it was already in position and removing it only results in the same error message. I have uninstalled DevTools 1.0.1 first to see if that makes any difference. I have rebooted, disabled zone alarm, redownloaded the DevTools and still receive the same message. The dfailed installation also trashes my previous inastallation. I have had no installtion problems with any other software on Windows XP since its lauch, so this is very curious. |I have enasbled by backp copy of Rail Simulator so it becomes the defaul folder and the revised tools won't install to that either. The only orther other thing I can think of is disabling software that runs at startup in case something is interfering with the installation. The documents do install ok.

Hmm, it works for me, so it must be something specific to certain setups...

It's taken most of the day but I finally succeeded in getting the latest DevTools revision to install. I've been into safe mode, through a reinstall (little use because the uninstaller leaves so much behind) and a system restore, which duplicates some of the folders as it does with MSTS. I also tried various other things before the installation was eventually successful. It seemed to work both after I had re-installed and then repaired the new installation!
I'm pleased to say that the activity packer now works so I can upload my finished scenario. When it comes though, beware of the viaducts, which have a propensity to send your train skywards as Sniper has also discovered on train-sim.com. Looks as this may be another case of stored energy activated by viaducts, just as in MSTS couplings exploded unless stock crossed points with reasonable regularity.

Are you serious?!

That just spoilt a perfectly good-humoured atmosphere...
Why would you not agree that Derek has nothing to apologise for? I agree with Overmarze - thanks Derek as usual for your continuing input and no need to apologise

(at least, not in my view)
