I rather suspect that they thought that anything that could delete the entire contents of a user's "My Documents" folder, even under unusual conditions, was so serious that it had to be the top priority, and overtake all other work.

Overmaze, all they did was fix the installer to fix the two problems raised, 1 the uninstalling problem and 2 the problem where those who had a download version from EA couldn't install. Any actual program fixes will come in a patch I would assume.overmarze wrote:I and the devolopers hoped that it was a simple fix????

Laugh or you'd cry
Well we have the game itself full of bugs, then the Dev tools with bugs so the totaly frustrated user uninstalls rail simulator to rid themselves of it and the uninstaller has bugs
It would be really nice to have something released that puts a positive back into RS rather than one negative after another we all want it to be a success.

Re: New dev tools but still no signal fix????
I would think that with the RS team working on a U.S. release in January that they will be working to fix as many bugs as they can by then. I certainly would not hold your breath hoping for a patch before that.
Just because you are into signals, does not mean that a lot of other people care about signals at all. The developers may not perceive that as being important in the scheme of things and feel they would be better off making the level-crossings work, or stop the program giving a send/dont send message and crashing back to the desktop under certain conditions.

Mike - have you seen this http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 9&start=31 it implies the US version is already done and dusted and may not include fixes for what issues already known about.mikesimpson wrote:I would think that with the RS team working on a U.S. release in January that they will be working to fix as many bugs as they can by then. So who knows ??CaptScarlet wrote:Earlier in this thread RSderek said -markjudith wrote:So the Americans can expect the same problems then?
Would any future patches cover both releases?Once the Euro version had been accepted the code and source moved on till the NA version had been accepted and beyond.
What is happening right now is that 'branches' of the same game are coming together, this will be complete sometime next week.
There is a plan to release the US route in Europe, in what shape/form is still to be decided, however a date for this is likely to be around the release of the NA version.
There will probably be a patch (this may or may not be the first patch) for the game before or at the latest to coincide with these releases

Derek

Re: New dev tools but still no signal fix????
The fix was for the dev tool installer bug only.
We took this issue very seriously and acted as quickly as we could.
This was not a patch for the game or intended to fix any other issues.

Thanks guys. I will grab the new installer and reinstall my tools using it tonight. As someone who has a lot of important stuff in MyDocuments (even if it is backed up somewhere), I appreciate this.

Yes I would also like to say thank you for a speedy fix and also for the e-mail with links. The new Versions are now on my machine. This IMHO shows that the RS developers are on top of things and have taken positive action.
Regards James.

Well its the community that loses with all these that dont work.
Im a reskinner and a route builder that packager dont work so i cant release my route and i cant have the dev tools installed so i cant reskin trains.
All the people that by RS cant route build properly as the signals dont place how can that not be important?

People’s personal data is far more important and prompted an immediate fix.
We are looking into the signal issue you reported and is classed as a 'must fix' A bug.
When I know more I'll let you know.
best regards
Derek

Re: New dev tools but still no signal fix????
hi,
This is a SecuROM error message.
The disc check is independent of the Rail Simulator code and is normally indicative of a damaged/corrupted disc.
In general we refer such issues to EA support, since if the disc is damaged then I'm sorry to say that replacement may be necessary.
Regards
Derek
