It's nice that the end of track buffer work. I've hit them a few times, save me from failing a scenario. I did a test, I drove a train into the buffers at 55MPH. I hit the buffer, the train stopped, then about 2 seconds later the train shot back about 8 feet, and I got a derailed message.

I'm shocked and appalled by this recent discovery that "buffers work".

After playing with RS for a month, I was completely unaware that the buffers work.

Infact, I am so disappointed with this, this, pathetically realistic and prototypical item, that I shall immediately cease to use RS and will proceed to wipe it from my hard drive, before formating my hard drive several times to remove any trace of it's existance.

This is not the first time I've experienced a realistic attempt at the physical.

Have you noticed that the wheels go round?

It's shocking to think that they could get away with it.

I'm going to complain to EA and demand my money back and write a letter to Gordon Brown demanding an explanation for how this game came to be sold as a simulation!

Some of them even go round in the right direction :)

They do?

My God! I think the UN will have to get involved!

Perhaps RS should come with a warning.

Warning: May contain prototypical items

This will prevent parents buying RS for their minors, only to hear their screams on Xmas, shocked as buffers work, wheels revolve in the right direction (occassionally) and trains stay on tracks.

I dread to think of all those parents who have bought the game for their children already, unaware of the dangers - it could be as bad as (if not worse than) the panic caused by the Lumiere brothers in 1895.

Luckily they left a few in the good old MSTS way. It always gives me this nostalgic feeling, although the got the emulation wrong (I always find something wrong). In MSTS, all the wheels rotate the wrong way if the degree of flippedness of the engine and the wagons does not coincide, whereas in RSD some of them are wrong all the time and some others on the same vehicle are right all the time -- boring, failed imitation of an important MSTS feature.

I thought things only needed to be pointed out if they don't work and to assume everything else does.

Just for the record, that's not true. Buffers do work in MSTS. The route builder hasn't set them to work as such, that's all.

Quite true Kerr, all the buffers in Lyme Regis and Foxfield work, quite fun it is too.

In reality, if a buffer is touched, someone's not been driving properly :)

Sorry to contradict John, but while my memories of loco hauled travel are now a bit hazy, I can definitely recall loco changes where without exception the engine buffered up before the shunter got down and coupled the train.

Unless of course by "buffers" you mean stopblocks, which is a different matter altogether!
