Package manager still dont work in vista 64 bit please reply

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Yes mate - all that checks out. Will have another look tomorrow as I'm hacked off with it at the moment. Many thanks for the suggestions though. I appreciate it.

Our installers are signed and manifested (at which point it's a bit beyond me as I'm not "the installer bloke") but that should mean they automatically elevate themselves to Administrator level (and if you're not an admin account, prompt you for an Administrator password from a suitable Vista account), so I don't believe there's any need to actually right click and "run as administrator". Without wishing to point fingers, I think it's either something to do with the Package Manager or some other setting on the files. As before though, our support team will be happy to help further if you continue to have trouble.

When you install a normal .rpk file by double clicking on it ( in Vista 64bit ) does it install correctly ? Or do you do it some other way ?

Thanks Simon, will post how I crack this but will ask your support guys if I fail. Also many thanks for sorting my reward points from my other account.

Hi John, this is the first thing I've tried to install since having vista. Up to now I've usually downloaded rpk files to a temp folder then opened package manager and browsed to location. The JT installer is a slightly different method so I've had a go with a regular rpk and it does look like its the package manager that is the issue. Will unistall it and download it again.

The error message I get says: object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Hi,
Has Package manager been set up with administraor rights? As this is the installation programme, this needs to have them as well. Right click - properties - click run this programme as an administrator. AND check that you are actually using the MK2 not the MK1 package manager. If you have the MK1 version it is best to delete it then if it complains - point it to the new one.

Hope this helps
