Package manager still dont work in vista 64 bit please reply

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Yeah have latest version of .Net framework and MK2 Pckager, still no joy. Still confused how to install .rpk manually any help appreciated.
Go to the start menu and in the Rail Simulator Development tools section, there should be a sub section called tools. In the is the package manager, select it to run and follow the instructions to install the .rpk file

Or you could just double click on the rpk. file and it will run automatically without all the faffing about

Strange as I have it working on vista 64 bit. What i did was download package manager V2 from RS site. delete V1, and then place the downloaded V2 file inside the packager folder, everytime i now double click on the .rpk file it installs no problemo

Just started using Vista 64bit. Can't get JT seacow to install. Package manager (Mk2) stops working 3/4 of way in. No one seems to have the definitive answer to this. Do we all have to fumble in the dark?

Hopefully someone will have an answer for you on here, but if not then can you drop Just Trains support a message via the Seacow support page that you can access at http://www.justtrains.net/support.asp - our installers have been built to work with 64 bit systems ever since some people found this problem with the Voyager in 64 bit, but it does seem the package manager sometimes causes problems despite this (something specific to the package manager - but not too sure what).

Have you ran it under administrator :)

You may need to have all the secuirity permissions ticked to.

Hi Scott, I've turned off UAC and run as admin. Where can I find the tick boxes you mention?

Got full control in properties - RS is set to read only at moment. Just going to amend that now.

Edit: Can't seem to change from read only - I'm guessing this is preventing the install from completing.

Well I give up. My Rail Sim folder security setting are all ticked to allow admin full control. I then uncheck read -only attribute, it runs through the files, then check properties of subfolders and they are all read-only still. Is this Vista treating me like a 3 year old or am I missing something.

Na i ment you have to run the installer under administrator then the installer may not install as its blocked out so i would tick the secuirity on the installer to.

It should work after that :)

If you mean right-click installer, then click run as admin I've done that.

Permissions on the installer are all fine.
