How RS can't simulate even basic train movements

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Wasn't it someone else who said goodbye?

Should've been 'au revoir' .... or I'm lying :P
You take it out of context, please don't, to refresh your memory

Simple really, simple questions which if answered correctly by those that can, will see me develop content, if not I'll bid my goodbyes and seek interest elsewhere.

RSDerek said he would look into the issues, when he says he cannot or will not then ( and only then and at my discretion, not at the behest of others ) I will walk across the corridor.

Lying ?, thats a baiting rhetoric if l ever saw one :).

TO be fair most critism these days is fair and based on geniune facts and issues, we've lost the "it;s carp I'm uninstalling it" mob after the first week. We now have people who see potiental and see what they believe needs to be fixed/changed for it to be a truely great sim.

I think what james said earlier about some indidcation from RSDL whether an issue is a bug, a feature or a work around would be helpful.

ohn,

I honestly dont give a damn anymore, it'll be what will be and l'm pretty sure cottage industies will be screwed, theres nothing that can be said here anymore on this issue that wouldnt become liablous or close too. The issue is closed, we'll never get to the bottom of it, its too muddy and to be frank...whats the point, one person will be right and one wrong, l hope its me, l can take it on the chin, l'm expendable, others might not be.

I dont care if the game fails or wins, if content can or cannot be created, l wanted so much to contribute to KRS as the game engine looks great, but l have deep seated reservations about many things, thats my problem and issue and l'll take it elsewhere.

l've packed away all the high level train sim stuff with a "do not open before TSx appears", l will probably finish the Warship for MSTS1 as it involves others whos efforts and skills I appreciate.

Y'all have fun with the new game and l hope it gets sorted so that many others here can rest there fears and reservations.

Thanks for all the fish

kindest

Michael

Thanks to AndiS and Neptune50006 for responding to my question about MSTS.

Both gave the exact answers I was expecting, although it was actually rhetorical.

The criticism of RS isn't going unnoticed, unlike that of MSTS.

RSDerek has confirmed once again that he is putting in a lot of after-hour work talking to the community.

I'm starting to wonder if the criticism is due to a lack of new models, routes and scenerios for people to experiment with and enjoy.

Perhaps a case of being spoilt for choice by MSTS (or another sim) in the areas one feels strongest about and feeling that RS currently doesn't match it.

I'm thoroughly enjoying RS because I'm building a poor quality route and it's fun to see AI trains running on something I've created. Sure there is frustration in doing it (I'm having to re-lay miles of track because I used the "default" spacing), but it's fun. Like I'm sure it's fun for those who like coding, trying to fix the little problems they have with RS and it's fun for modellers to model things.

I'm happy to let RSDerek get on with his work, instead of talking to us (so that maybe, just maybe) we can finally get that 08 we've being tempted with and who knows what else

Here's some more...
11 Jan 2006, 22:33

I saw a quote of 20,000 odd files removed, l only removed 14, Tim about 3, so were all the rest Terry's ?, l'd be staggered if they were.

I agree people should talk, when its stops....all hope is lost....however there is a stage one gets to when it is abundantly clear that for all the talking in the world, the situation is not going to drastically change, at that point the talk needs to change from the past to the future, l think nearly everyone is now at that threshold.

12 Jan 2006, 01:41

I have corresponded again with said UKTS member concerning my posts, as said earlier l may have been mistaken, however the number of simular mails and PMS seemed to indicate not and l was wrong to aportion excessive undue blame on one individual, my apologies.

As far as l'm concerned the matter is closed and private and my public airing was not good cricket. There was an amount of truth in his words and it confirms that there really is not a place for a commerical voice here.

I will try to confine the commerical voice to the BATs forum where ever it is possible to do so and hoepfully that will reduce some of the friction around here.

Thank you for your understanding

Michael

There's loads where that came from :)

Reality really does hurt.

No getting away from it though unless others allow you to do so.

Ahh sod it, whats the point.

Matt P, please delete my account for what its worth, l'm done here. As John says and SP762 hints, its about personalities, nothing more, nothing less.

The truth really can hurt when faced with it but the truth is there for all to see.

OK Guys, I think Mickoo and JD can continue their conversation in private if they really want, I don't think the rest of us really need to sit in on the discussion and it's not getting us anywhere.
