Asset Editor crashing / freezing repeatedly

Whilst I can preview some of the objects in the samples provided, eg all the rail vehicles and the sample building, most of the others freeze crash the editor.

Happens whenever the status box says "target(s) out of date for source file: blah blah etc" after clicking on validate or preview

Using Vista, tried XP compatabiltiy mode with no change.

Any other similar or successful experiences ?

Eg try to preview scenery, procedural, example_platform_light:

"target(s) out of date for ...example_streetlight.ace, example_streetlight_glow.ace, example_platfrom_light.igs, example_platform_light.xml "... freeze crash

On Vista Asset editor is not working properly. I launch it and whenever I try to click on the second tab or right click on the main surface the program minimizes to the taskbar. When I bring it up again its the same deal. I cannot do anything with it.

Are you running RS in windowed mode or fullscreen? Asset Editor needs to run windowed, which means that RS must be set to do so while you are editing.

@ Stuart: Are you able to preview all the objects under Vista ? Are you getting any freezes ?

I have to admit I run XP. Vista will come with new laptop though, so we shall see what happens when that arrives.

No crashes this end, but I assumed this wasnt an operating system issue though, as I had the same problems re running fullscreen.
