The term:- It is not the best thing since sliced bread; is just a way of saying that KRS is not much of an improvement over MSTS, apart from better graphics and quality of the objects, especially the trees, which do look much more realistic, 10 out of 10 for the vegitation. It has the potential to be a much better simulator than MSTS, but as it is at the moment, there are quite a few areas, where I think it is worse.
The track monitor is too gaudy and takes up too much of the screen. The Lat Long Scale at the top of the page, is another annoying point. It could have been made to toggle on or off. If these areas are made better, running the scenarios will be much more pleasing. I suppose these can be adressed, like they were with the transparent driver aids available for MSTS.
Most annoying though, was the lack of some decent instructions of how to use the various options, like changing locos to run on different routes, placing consists, which until Matt (UKTrainsim) had explained in his video clip, the ordinary Joe Soap, wouldn't have had a clue of what to do, because this wasn't covered in the skimpy instruction manual. I do like Railsimulator, but untill more Routes etc are available, I am sticking with MSTS.
Before anyone suggests that I have a go at building a route, sorry, but I am hopeless when it comes to using building tools. I have tried with MSTS but cannot get to grips with producing add on material.
I do take my hat off to those that are good at building Routes & Stock etc, because they are the people who really make Rail Simming come alive. In twelve months from now, KRS will have some cracking routes, I am sure, but with the present content of KRS, I have got a bit bored with it, through lack of choice. I just wish I could do more with it, like building routes.

It was simply to explain why I post in certain threads , and not others.
I know there are one or two members who would, for reasons of their own, wish me to keep quiet about KRS...period.
They believe that sitting back and saying nothing is the way to achieve the best outcome, I'm not that way inclined.
I don't moan for moaning sake.
Therefore I wouldn't moan about the looks of Derek's Class 08.......it looks great.
I really don't understand why everyone is looking for hidden meanings....there aren't any.
To be honest I think Derek's reply about the sliced bread is rather rude, dismissive and arrogant......... but then it wasn't made to
me.
However it is this rather Cavalier, don't give a monkey attitude , which unfortunately acts like a red rag to a bull to me.
Cheers
Jon

have not tried for yourself.

Re: KRS DISSAPOINTMENT! I AM STICKING WITH MSTS
Actually I dont think they are much better. Maybe they are better than some of the early attempts, but some of the stuff available for msts now is stunning.especially the trees, which do look much more realistic
I actually think that the graphics are one of the biggest letdowns. Yes the steam locos are superb, some but not all of the stock, is pretty good and a few scenic items are ok too. But most of what ive seen so far is just about average and little better than what we have on MSTS. And as for the waving grass on the track, and the colour of the sky for the rain environment (which looks more like a hurricane than a rain storm), and rain that looks like CD's falling from the sky, that is just so naff its untrue, totally awful.
Things i do like are the steam sound synchronisation which really does get faster as the wheels turn and stays in time, and isnt just a set of recorded sounds which change pitch at intervals. the steam sound synchronisation is one of the most stunning bits of this sim.
Unfortunately there is so much that is truly awful

do some msts trainsimers fear the competition or what from RS ? In all my time no matter what a game has been good or bad has ever been pulled to bit like RS has been. I am very sorry that RS as not had fair reviews. I don't think I will be staying with uktrainsim when my subscription runs out this timeLad491 wrote:Actually I dont think they are much better. Re: KRS DISSAPOINTMENT! I AM STICKING WITH MSTS
I certainly dont fear the competition. What is there to be afraid off since im not in it for the money. I had hoped it was going to be as good as we were lead to believe. In fact i think thats probably the root of the problem. Knowing that KUJU did the first simulation and knowing that they knew what most of the community thought the problems were, and lead on by a lot of very tempting stuff in the early days, we were all lead down the golden path only to find a shed at the bottom not a dream home. I, and I expect a lot of my fellows were expecting much more. I expected to be wowed and im afraid i wasnt.Do some msts sims fear the competition or what from RS ? Ive tried to be fair. In that quote I mentioned two things which are most definitely very right with it. I also agree that its probably a good base for future years, providing the lure of msts2 isnt too strong. But ive no axe to grind and im certainly not trying to protect any interest in msts. At the moment, for me (and thats really only who I can speak for) it nots even close to being a good successor to msts. But i'll wait and see what the next 6 years bring for, as people have stated before, it took msts 6 years to reach this point.
I believe the RS has had its fair share of reviews, good and bad. The fact that there do seem to be more bad than good can probably lead you to an inevitable conclusion, unless there is a big silent majority out there - which there probably is.
Are the reviews any better elsewhere then? I never visit other sites so I dont know. What are they saying on Trainsim.com? Seems a shame to leave a web site on the basis of a few reviews (oh ok a lot of reviews), after all, I dont speak for UKTS I speak for myself only.I don't think I will be staying with uktrainsim when it runs out this time

Re: KRS DISSAPOINTMENT! I AM STICKING WITH MSTS
Okey dokey.
Considering that most of the views being expressed here are somewhat coloured by the perception of the posters, some of whom (it appears) don't actually have the game, I'm locking this thread.
However, because there is a thin line between venting your displeasure (which you are responsible for) and libel (which UKTS becomes responsible for, by proxy), then I suggest that there are better ways of showing your displeasure with the company than by taking shots at them in a public forum.
For example, you could:
a. Write to the company and demand your money back,
b. Form a class action and take them to court,
c. Start a letter writing campaign to the media,
d. Go complain someplace else, or
e. Go work for the company and try to reform them from within.
The problem with the first two options is that you will actually have to produce evidence of intent to defraud or take money off you under false pretences.
The problem with the third is that you'll look like a nutter.
The problem with the last is that Kuju appear to have gotten out of the train sim business.
So that leaves you with option d.
I'll start a new thread for people who want to make objective comments, otherwise, enough is enough.
Regards,
Mike
Edited to clarify reasons for locking.

- If you have the game and don't like it for personal or aesthtic reasons, feel free not to play it.
- If you have the game and feel that you have been mistreated or ripped off by EA, then I suggest this is not the proper avenue for addressing your complaints.
- If you don't have the game and dislike it, feel free to express your displeasure by continuing not to own it, rather than by moaning about it here.
