OMG, KRS team have finally posted!

General discussion about Rail Simulator that doesn't really fit in to any specific category. A good place to start if you're not sure what category it should fit in to as well.

Doesn't help with all the other 'forelock tuggers' posting..
If you look back a few posts you will see Dereks reply to a general post.
Basically there's a denial of the problems (along with banter)..........so I fear we won't get very far this way.
What I cannot currently see is what is trying to be achieved...... buying some breathing space ?
My biggest worry is how long can this game survive financially, if the volume sales do not occur.
What happens when someone, who can make the decisions, pulls the plug.

repeat myself mode

I'll send anyone a Glen Morangie who can tell me how to stop the loco (and 1st carriage/wagon) from swaying. In the cab it's too exagerated and from outside justs looks naff.

Uninstall EA Rail Simulator, put the DVD back in the box and throw into recycling bin.

Reinstall MSTS and enjoy yourself WITHOUT the swaying.

Believe it or not, they are extremely popular in France - available in all the supermarkets, even miles away from the coast.

How's that for an irrelevent post (0/10)

Best wishes

P.S. I wish to complain about a Moderator leading a topic off-track!!!

Not surprised as they like garlic.

I liked Fishermen's Friends and you can still buy them all over the place.

Ask Elton John.

PS

This post may well be off-topic.

That said, I liked them as well.

Hi,

Jamespetts wrote
a suggestion to move the track interactive in order to make the signals change to danger later after a train passes them.
Would it not be enough to put link 0 of a signal a bit forward from the signal or the signal a bit backwards (let's say, a loco length)?

That's just another way of writing what I wrote :-) The problem with that, however, is that a SPAD should be registered as soon as the front of the train passes the signal; the signal should change to danger after the back of the train has passed the signal, and the signal behind should clear (or, at least, set to single caution) only when the back of the train is some considerable distance away from the signal (which is called an "overlap"). Moving the position of the link 0 cannot do all of these things at once.

Thank you, James. I had forgotten that. Apparently this means that some clever scripter will have to correct the problem. I believe it can be done by changing the script somewhere. Wouldn't it just be great if somebody of us fixes the problem?
Having been a programmer myself (had to retire after a coronary), I shall look into the problem myself. However, I think (or rather, hope) that somebody else will beat me to it
