On Monday (30/08/10) had a circular trip on the 10.25inch gauge Shibden Miniature Railway hauled by "Ivor". This is located in Shibden Park, Halifax.

Re: What was the last train you went on??
Absolutely loads in the last week, I won't list them all but they include a few 158s, a couple of 175s, 3 67s, some HSTs and a 150. The very last one I travelled on was 150219 from Bath to Trowbridge on Wednesday.
English Electric loco nutter, you can keep your Sulzers! If it's electric, it had better be an 87!

Re: What was the last train you went on??
I took a road trip from Houston to Toronto, on the way a side trip to the Cass Scenic Railroad
This is an old logging line with power exclusivly by geared steam locos, mostly Shay type.
Our train went from Cass to Bald Knob a ten mile trip with a 2200 foot elevation change. Gradients are as steep as 1 in 11 and include a zig-zag reversal deep in the woods
Below is a photo of Western Maryland No 6, this behemoth weighs 145 tons and has a vertical three cylinder engine working through gearing to 12 drivers on three bogies. Tractive effort through the gearing is 97539lbf.
Built in 1945 it only worked for 5 years before being withdrawn, it was the last Shay built and is the largest survivor

A closeup of the cylinders and crankshaft below

Re: What was the last train you went on??
Virtually the same as expressboy1983 for the last trains I went on, excluding the first two journeys, and that I did 444040 from Weymouth to Dorchester South for 444011 back.

Re: What was the last train you went on??
My most recent train journeys was full of stock me thinks.
Class 153 (which broke down at Derby) for the Derby - Crewe service
Replacement 153 at Derby
And a Virgin Voyager from Crewe to Carlisle
Returning me and my dad went Carlisle - Preston (Pendolino)
Preston - Manchester Piccadily (FTPE Class 185)
Manchester - Sheffield (FTPE Class 170)
Sheffield - Derby (XC Class 220)
Was a good run
