Jamie , a chap not built for speed, was to run a half marathon last year for a charity close to his heart. Due to an injury he was unable to but he had sent off for the entry forms for this year and there was no forseeable reason why he would not be able to raise money for them.
The charity is called 'Transforming Lives Of Children' and is run by two very special people who self fund all admin costs so any monies raised goes straight to the children. They run a home for street children in Danang Vietnam, they feed, clothe, provide medication, glasses and educate the children, when they are old enough they move on to vocational training. This includes hairdressing, sewing, motorbike mechanics and electrics this of course enables them not only to provide for themselves but gives them a future for their own children. Jamie was wonderful with all children, he was the much adored eldest of 12 cousins and he believed in educating people so they would be able to look after themselves and give them dignity. It costs just £30 to feed clothe and educate a child for one year, it costs just £90 to set up a boy with all his own equipment for a motorcycle repair business.
My heart is breaking with the loss of my very special son and I know it would mean so much to him if his legacy was for so many children to raise themselves out of poverty and to give them a future.
The charity address is 'TLC', 10 Millington Gate, Willen, Milton Keynes, MK15 9HT. Tel 01908 672484
