Worth a try .... although I believe most Herpa is 1:87 scale .... so a little small.
I think Minic Motorways are around 1 :50 , which is why is difficult to find suitable base models.

Hi Jon & Mick,
I would say Triang Minic scale is not a constant. The buses and lorries are close to 1:76 'OO'. The cars are larger though
This little tool is worth Book Marking. Most modellers know about it.

Scroll down a bit.
Hope it's useful.
Good luck

Re: Triang Minic Motorways
Hi Mick,
Base Toys are true to scale. Are good for bashing as they are cheap enough, are screwed together and they look like what they are supposed to be.
Although liberties are taken with bodies on the lorries. A six wheel rigid will use the same chassis as an eight wheel rigid with one of the middle axles removed. Thus making the wheel base 4ft too long and looking slightly ridiculous.
The cars being 00 scale will be too narrow for the minic chassis as it is I think.
Good luck
Doug

Re: Triang Minic Motorways
Hi Mick
I too was excited when I first saw them.
There are some excellent prototypes.
However my local model shop stocks them, and I was surprised at how small they look in 'the flesh' so to speak.
I think as Doug says the 'scales' of Triang are variable.
I would like a refuse wagon, a milk float, a road sweeper, an Ice cream van, and a Bedford (Lomas) Ambulance..... but still looking.
I did buy a Lledo Austin van, but its a bit big.
My latest conversion is a Matchbox super king Foden wrecker .... its a little big ... but I think I'll get away with it.
As they were quite large in real life.
Cheers

Re: Triang Minic Motorways
HI Jon , Thank you very much for the above advice it is very
Much apreciated . Please keep the photos coming of your
Latest conversions this is now my favorite topic and judging
By the number of visitors there is still a lot of interest in minic.
on liter note I have changed the destination blinds on my
Minic double Deckers to sorry not in service. And only run
Them every two hours. Three at a time
Regards. Mick

Re: Triang Minic Motorways
Hi
Latest conversion Foden Wrecker by Matchbox .... its a little big on scale ... but they were large vehicles.
It will tow the bus on the straights... but struggles too much round the bends .... don't want to burn out the small motor.
Its based on a car chassis, with front and rear axles as dummies.
Started on a plastic one .... but that suffered on the weight, so now on a brass chassis, the collector wheel taking the front weight.

Also got a Budgie Scammell Highwayman cheap, and a Lone Star Alfa Romeo Spider.
The challenge will be to get motors into the small bodies.
