Graphics card recommendation

Post by rufuskins »

My "budget" desktop PC uses the on-board graphics, which gives slightly odd scenery appearance when running MSTS.

I have therefore been looking at an alternative graphics card, and was seriously considering the following:-

Sapphire Radeon HD7750 Graphics Card (1GB, GDDR5)

The cost is about £70-80 - possibly cheaper - which I presume puts it at the top end of the budget range? That sum is the maximum I can afford - SWMBO being in agreement :o :o - and would welcome any comments be they positive or negative? In particular can it "cope" with MSTS?

Hi Alec.

I don't have any experience with this card, but I have just been reading the customer reviews on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Radeon ... B00761YFPW

Some of the games that they are running on it are far more demanding than MSTS, so I reckon you should be fine with this.

I am running MSTS with a much older NVidia 8600gt card and get good framerates with it even on Dorset coast, so I don't think that you will be disappointed with the Radeon, anything has got to be better than on board graphics.
Regards
Mark.

Hi Alec, when I got my new computer and wanted only to run MSTS on it and despite being capabable of
handing RailWorks 2013, they fitted a 1GB AMD Sapphire HD 6570 PCI-E card in it and this gives me more
than adequate performance.
I have the bill in front of me now and this cost me only £45.82 less V.A.T. and so was a good price to pay
when you consider some are nearly £100.00 to run MSTS and over £200.00 to run RailWorks.
I don't know what type of fiiting you have in your computer but at least it gives you an idea of what can
be purchased and at what price you need to pay.

Hi Alec

I expect you've done your homework already, but just in case,

might be of interest.
