Hi
Interesting reading .... I suppose this might effect software sharing sites such as UKTS.
Cheers

Without getting in to a discussion about the definition of "software", IF UKTrainSIm were a "Software Sharing Site" then almost certainly the content of that ruling would have an impact.
However, UKTrainSim only shares DATA.
I would also point out that this is a "European Union" directive and has NO IMPACT on "Steam" operated by "Valve".

That's not what I've read:
"
The ruling means that gamers in European Union member states are free to sell their downloaded games, whether they're from Steam, Origin or another digital platform - no matter what End User License Agreement has been signed."
The full article that comes from is here:

Quite how that could work in practice for Steam software is another matter. Possibly Valve would have to allow the sold on software to be associated with the new purchaser's account, a field day for the lawyers no doubt!

Interesting stuff but perhaps not a big problem for Steam. Making a game unavailable to you and making it available to someone else with a Steam Account instead, sounds fairly straightforward.
Smaller software distributors may find this much harder to do though, and it could be a major issue for them.

I hope that this means that software provided under a free license cannot be resold. Perhaps somebody could expand on this?

I am sorry to disagree with you on this one. An RW scenario is an executable piece of data! And I have shared scenarios through UKTS. I think it concerns us all, but perhaps now is not the time to react to sensationalism. I hope someone more knowledgeable can shed some light on this.

Damn and blast, I recently binned all the UKTS MSTS cd`s.

Oh flippertigibbet!!!

I could have made a packet on Ebay.

Just out of interest, if anyone really wants to know, whether executable or not, any material on CD, DVD or downloaded content, is classified as software.
