Sorry to say I'm one of those selfish gits who intend to move with the times and stick with RW.
But yes, I remember the early days of finding this site, downloading like crazy during the 8pm rush hours, occasionally getting a short premium membership through community CDs, eventually knowing what was useful to me after gathering enough preferred addons suited to my interests, before making and uploading activities following becoming a forum member in 2006.
As KRS and RW have developed, I've neglected MSTS on the grounds that its graphics engine will never be up to scratch. I continue to download useful stock and scenery items relevant to my own RW routes.

Good evening everyone
What is surprising is the length of time MSTS has been going
It is in a niche of it's own and still supported by community members
Wouldn't it have been interesting had MSTS2 come along during the last 10 Years?
Competition in my opinion is good because it prevents complacency
Kind regards Stephen

Happy (belated) birthday UKTS
It is worth taking a moment to think what would we have without sites such as this - would RW have even been conceived? would OR exist?
I am very grateful for being part of this community and thank everybody who has contributed over the years for all their efforts - without you guys we would simply have the default stuff and not a lot else

Quite similar story for me sadly, I first found this site in 2004. The first thing I ever downloaded was on the 4th Dec 2004, it was a CT liveried 156.
After that I spent many hours downloading and installing just about anything I could get my hands on for MSTS and then RW came and since my new PC I've just left my old pc with a Harddrive full of MSTS content that I haven't used for a while. But I am still on UKTS, and expect to be for another 10 years at least.

UKTS.com ensured my continuing interest in MSTS after nearly calling it a day when I added London South East from MT and MSTS keeled over. It introduced me to TrainStore and RouteRiter and . . . the list goes on. Visiting Keighley MR exhibition and the UKTS Road Show was also key.
Therefore congratulations on it's longevity and it is to be hoped that it can go on for some time to come - albeit that we are dependent upon Matt and Pete continuing input!!!
We all have our opinions on the merits of the differing Train Simulations and constructive dialogue is of great merit, but we should remember that UKTS is for ALL simulations.
The other great plus is that it generates access to world wide locations for train simulation.
Once again congratulations on 10 years of successful support for all train simulations.
Alec

Ah, memories...
My first download was a BR Blue Class 47 with no transparencies and textured windows, with sounds aliased to the Dash 9.
Other highlights at the time were a load of repaints of the Japanese stock to look like BR Units for use on the default S&C; early models of stock with wheels that weren't animated or that weren't totally accurate - but we thought we'd never had it so good!
Later on I remember spending an evening downloading the MidEast route when I was still on dial-up; at the time I only had a 20gb HDD - yet now I think nothing of downloading files of several GB and in the time it would have taken to download 3mb back then!
And back then at the age of 14, if you'd told me I'd still be an active member of the community 10 years later, I probably wouldn't have believed you!

The site is still in the top of my daily visit list, both /forums and main site, even though I post less often (due mostly to work commitments) I've been a member since 2004 and have enjoyed much of the time.
Happy Birthday (belatedly) UKTS

Actually, shouldn't this really be the 10th anniversary of Trainsimfiles.com?
This was Tim Booths site and I remember this appearing in Late July/August 2001 and it hosted the first british addon (Tim's class 47 if I remember correctly). I uploaded my first models (Ffestiniog Rlys Prince and a couple of carriages) to Trainsimfiles in September 2001.
As far as i remember UKtrainsimfiles didn't actually start till later on in 2001 (oct/nov?).
When Tims site finally closed down we all had a mass migration over to Matts site in late 2001.
I remember uploading my first model to UKtrainsim.com in December 2001

Don't know about that - I wasn't around then, but
WHOIS lookup wrote:
Domain Name: UKTRAINSIM.COM
Creation Date: 23-jul-2001
whereas trainsimfiles.com seems to be younger by a couple of years

Trainsimfiles was definitely first; I recall moving over here primarily because TSF simply couldn't handle the traffic that MSTS produced (though UKTS existed before the shutdown) - and at the time thinking that UKTS was some sort of snotty upstart that wouldn't last a month. I'm quite glad I was proved wrong!
