Jon,

Signed and passed it on to my contacts with a request that, should they be so inclined, they do the same.

Regards,

Dave Oldrocker.

Whilst I do have sympathies for those people (potentially) losing their jobs over this; one question remains:
I know for a fact that I would rather travel on a Desiro than a Voyager; and from my reading of various rail related forums; the Desiro does appear to be a fair bit more popular with the public than the Voyager does.

Therefore I know that I would rather get Siemens to build new trains than Bombardier as they have a better reputation.

Rather than simply protesting against the decision; do the staff at Bombardier need to think about what they could possibly do to restore their reputation? I'm sure I read somewhere about a Bombardier depot that closed shortly after the Mk4 refurbs were done - the refurbs were quite poor quality. Was this because the depot was closing or did the depot end up closing because the work output was shoddy?

Just a thought; and I do support British manufacturers in the main; unless their produce is not up to scratch or is ridiculously priced.

Hi

Its an interesting point, although a bit '70s stereo type'.
However didn't I read that Siemens 380's have been rejected for quality.... so there's no guarantees that
they can do any better.
If they have won on price I wonder if they are being subsidized by their Government ?
Something I have definitely read is that this countries balance of payments is way out of kelt, and uncontrollably going
the wrong way.
Now if the Government can't buy British, not sure they can say much to Joe public.
The problem is eventually the Pound will become worthless, and that effects everyone, even those who think they are
not.... because they work in service/ financial areas.

Cheers
Jon

PS
I should add that I can't comment on the Trains.... as the only Trains I've been on in the last 10 years are Class 156s and a HST.

I'd rather sit on a bed of nails than travel in an unDesiroble. But then I understand how foolish it is to spend all the countries money abroad. We now have a situation where we have had to go cap in hand begging to the Chinese thinly disguised as a trade agreement, which basically means all new big projects, the Chinese get first dibs at. You mark my words.....
