Well, down in rural Surrey we have a good 8'' of snow. However, someone has been out with a plough. SWT are finally suffering though.

yep - we've got a decent falling now in Berkshire.

Just a couple of inches here in West London. Doubt that's survived away from our local streets ......but I'm not so curious as to find out .

Rather irritatingly our dog, who's a real woos about rain, just loves the snow so I'll get to see how it's settling later on.

More snow overnight and its snowing heavily now. Must be at least a foot deep in the garden now. The novelty is wearing off somewhat...

Amusing to note that the first plane out of Gatwick after a two day closure was flying to Lapland!

Just an irritating layer of frozen slush here in West London. Miracle of miracles though we actually had a gritter lorry down our side street this morning Someone must have moved in who works for the council?

Well now I've got my grumble head on .... don't know what's happening round here.
No post for 3 days ... now no bin lorry.
Certainly not seen a grit lorry.
They started canceling Buses last night because of Frozen roads.
Listening to the radio this morning.... sounds as if nearly all local schools closed.
This morning my sons relief called in as 'can't get to work' .... 3 miles down the clear and gritted A46. ... so he was 30 Min's late getting off..... and I had to wait for him.
I've just fetched my wife from work, and it took me 20 Min's to get into and 10 Min's to get out of Morrisons.....she was stuck on Tills, because some staff couldn't get in ?..... hundreds of customers queuing.
Presumably because they haven't gone to work.
To put this into perspective .... it hasn't really snowed here since Tuesday.
When I lived in Germany, once you had snow it stayed until early March.
So I'm with Tony now..... what is going on.

I think it is more like The Day After Tomorrow!
My nearest railway line only suffered a short delay due to the weather. Went out yesterday and it is still buisness as usal, though.

I have been off college since wednesday, but unlike some in the areas, with good reason - to get to the college we have to get up a big, steep hill from the station, and it had been impassable with snow/ice the last few days. The trains have also been very problematic, SWT still planning to run a snow timetable tomrrow.

You'd probably think I'm pleased, but I'm really not. 3 days teaching at A level is a lot to miss - I have January exams in 2 subjects, and in none of them have we finished learning everything we need to know - 3 days is so much to miss, having missed 3 hours in both the subjects I have exams for in January.

If I could get there/tutors could/it was safe, i would, but I live on an equally steep hill, and it has nearly been impossible to get the car out the drive - it is sheet ice with inches of snow on top. Walking (my normal method of transport to the station) is equally tricky, and its bitterly cold.

I'm not fed up quite yet, but if I cant get in on Monday due to ice (that is the reason I had wednesday off, no real snow then) I will probably start to loose my cool - stressing enough about exams/revision already !

Yep, I'm with you there Jon, I pushed my wheelie bin down the drive this morning with 5 inches of snow on the lid, and they haven't bloody well been, typical.....No postman either, though, he only brings junk mail normally, so, nothing to worry about on that score. The milkman made it up the street this morning in his float, I was amazed and nearly went to get my camera to record the occassion.....
I often wonder how folks survive mentally in other countries that see snow for maybe 4 months of the year, we're peed off with it already and have only had it a week......

Here in Buckinghamshire there's been a light covering but some real big stuff landed on Thursday morning and a heavy coating is currently failling. It's been absolutely freezing for 3 weeks now though.

It's naturally forecast to rain and get into positive temperatures tommorrow afternoon.
