Hi All,
This will upset you.
Only 6- 7deg C overnight at sea level.
Wind around 15MPH.

Better than the summer. :D :D :D

Although the Ben-my_Cree was blown into the link span at Heysham last week in the high winds.
Good luck
Doug

VSOE was advertising a trip to Lincoln from London Victoria on 2 Dec Loco not specified but probably not steam

Sir Nigel Gresley was taking a Railway Touring Company Special from Kings X to Lincoln on 3 Dec

Astonishingly, it is still generally above freezing here - at 60° North Latitude in December! There have been a few overnight frosts, but no snow and no permanent freeze yet.

It's either going to be a really mild winter (to make a change from the two extremely snowy ones we just had) or it's going to suddenly pitch us into -25°C blizzards at the new year (which is roughy what it did when I first arrived here).
The key to knowledge is not to rely on others to teach you it.

Given the unbelievable amount of rain we're having this year, it will probably wash away tomorrow.
As I intimated, the rain did wash away the snow, but we have another fall this morning which is much lower down the mountains. Last week was above 2000ft but this time starts at about 1000ft asl.

Don't know what it means for the near future (swmbo is topping up the freezer as we speak) but at least it isn't 2ft deep outside my house, like it was this time last year.

Monday 28 November—Sunday 4 December
Spells of wind and rain
The week will be dominated by low pressure systems moving over or to the north of the UK and translates to some wet and windy weather at times. However, there should still be some transient ridges of high pressure, especially in the south, allowing some dry interludes. A difficult week of forecasting ahead with positioning and timing issues, particularly from midweek onwards and consequently exactly where and when the heaviest rain will fall. With fronts coming in from the west, western England, Wales and Western Scotland will bear the brunt of the rainfall. Sunshine amounts will follow the opposite trend; below average with the rain in western parts, elsewhere we'll see amounts pretty close to normal. Temperatures will be close to or a bit below normal, with overnight frosts when the winds fall lighter.

Next week
Still no sign of prolonged cold weather, what does the end of the year have in-store?
Monthly forecasting
The weather beyond about a week ahead stretches even the most experienced weather forecaster. Complex numerical weather forecast models from the Met Office and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) are run many times for the month (and season) ahead to build up a picture of the likelihood of different weather types affecting the UK.
Next update at 10:00, Monday 5 December

Not unfit, but a waste of a light engine move back to London when it is required down at Eastleigh ready for the Bath Spa Express later this week. As 70013 was already at Southall and available it was a simple substitution.

Interestingly both Britannias are currently on shed at Southall :D

Good morning everyone
Although we haven't had snow
We have had frequent heavy hail and the slush has stuck forming icy pavements in places
Whilst walking Emma I nearly came a cropper
Take care during this wintry blast
Kind regards Stephen
