Re: What do you drive?
I don't know if the Megane has AFIK it's just a normal 5 door Hatch back, the main reason for getting it was the 62MPG compared to 42MPG which I get from the Modus.

Re: What do you drive?
AFIK means As Far As I Know
I must admit I don't use abbreviations sometimes they confuse me and I have to look them up
Kind regards Stephen

Hello Andy
UKTS do say in their rules text speak should be avoided
There have been instances where I have had to reserarch the phrase being used

I don't believe such abbrieviations count as "text speak". In reality, its not much different to saying UKTS instead of UK Train Sim.Hello Andy

Re: What do you drive?
Indeed. Abbreviations like AFAIK and IANAL (I am not a lawyer) were in use well before texting was invented and seem to have originated in the world of newsgroups back in the days when you paid for the download of every character at a snail's pace compared with what we're used to today.

All well and good but the reader still has to know what they (the acronyms) mean.AndyUK wrote:Indeed. Re: What do you drive?
The us of common abbreviations is alright in my opinion, it's the use of numbers used to represent words or part of words and sentences, I have a problem with, or should I say I prefer not to use or see being used. After all said and done English is such a wonderful language why should we be so lazy as not to use it properly.
