Heart failure is one of the most common chronic illnesses. I have to say that I used to think in terms of people suddenly being gripped by fierce pains and life threatening seizures.
However, having recently been diagnosed myself as suffering from heart failure, I was intrigued to see what the NHS guide to “ Living with Heart Failure“ has to say.
I quote
“What are the symptoms?”
"Difficulty breathing, which is worse on exertion ot when lying down
Waking at night, feeling short of breath
A frequent dry cough often when lying down
Swollen ankles, feet or abdomen (belly/tummy)
Feeling tired and weak.”
Without wanting to scare anyone, if you suffer from more than three of these symptoms at any one time you should visit your doctor.

Somehow I have missed this post, but although this is too late for today itself let me wish you well and a positive outcome from your operation.
I shall look forward to meeting you at Rawtenstall should you be there on the Sunday.

Hello all
I am home the operation was a success but it was 3 hours long. I should still be in hospital but asked them if I was a good boy could go home. There is nothing better than your own bed. There will always be a risk now of me having a stroke. But I am now able to contact the hospital direct and not have to go accident & emergency which gave me a little peace of mind.
Thanks to all of you for your nice words
Best Regards
John
