Re: The most used expression?
One of my customers likes to 'touch base' and when trying to get a better price from me always asks me to 'sharpen my pencil'

One of the new popular ones for Construction Developers, is .. went it's ready to go........it's 'shovel ready'.

Re: The most used expression?
Don't even get me started on management speak !
Never mind 'low hanging fruit' 'blue sky thinking' 'outside of the box' etc which are used by jerks who don't keep up with this utter drivel and may still be 'touching base' !
No, now colleagues, going forward, we have to consider the elephant in the room because we are where we are . .
Stupid, stupid, stupid flock following morons !
I told you not to get me started !

Re: The most used expression?
Hi,
In the world of Formula 1, the words "for sure" seem to be used with regularity - "...the car was not good, but, for sure, we have a lot of work to do..."!! There is even a For Sure World Championship, based on how many times "for sure" is said by F1 drivers - Jarno Trulli and Lewis Hamilton are fairly high up in the list. I'm not kidding - type it into Google!
Regards
Dave Randles

One of our sales guys, bless him, uses "touching base" all the time. He'll also use the more normal "just calling you up". Once though, he got a bit flustered and muddled up while phoning a female customer, and ended up mixing the two by saying "I'm just touching you up"!! We were in stitches as you can imagine!!!codrivermike wrote:One of my customers likes to 'touch base' and when trying to get a better price from me always asks me to 'sharpen my pencil'

Re: The most used expression?
If we are talking about the most annoying expression that has to go to, " they shouldn't have told you that." usually uttered by someone when you phoned up to find out where something is, when a few days earlier you had been promised that "it was in the post." I'm sure people at called centres say that just to get you off the phone so they can go for a break!
"Young boys in the park jumpers for goalposts, that's what football is all about."

Hi All. For me it is "absolutely"
and what really does it for me is that "really really" you some times hear, especially in Surrey.
But even worse is "absolutely absolutely"

"Microsoft Train Simulator has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
Or, in the interests of fairness:
"Something bad has happened. Would you like Railworks to save a dump file?"
