ho do you do a model in TSM where it has varied levels of detail for example a house where at level 0 or 1 it's just a basic house but at level 10 it has everything including gutters?

Re: Level Of Detail
Sorry, can't be done: MSTS only has a distance based LOD system, as Alan pointed out. The detail setting in the game is binary: on/off, all or nothing.fredrikljundberg wrote:ho do you do a model in TSM where it has varied levels of detail for example a house where at level 0 or 1 it's just a basic house but at level 10 it has everything including gutters?

A pity, because it would give those of us with slower machines a better range of options.

Oooo.
I mis-read the origional post.
Erm, you would have to build a pack. Eg. Build a basic house and set the Detail level to 0.
Then build a seperate object for each Detail level, increasing the detail numbers to suit.
Then when building in the route you place ten objects for the house.
so in Msts 1 there is no practical way of doing this.
But it would be handy.

ergg..
I can only guess the reactions of the route guys I make stuff for if I was to tell them that they have to place 9 separate objects at exactly the same point and orientation in the route! Hey, fellas, it's an easy cut'n'paste job in the .w file for each object... <grin>
No, I think it'll have to stay on the wish list!

Yes, it is: this is the standard MSTS Level Of Detail, which is triggered depending on the distance the current viewpoint is from the axis point of the model. What the original poster wondered is if the LOD system could work depending on the "detail level" of the game: a completely different system.
