Some buildings glow in the dark

I was thinking that my narrow gauge route was nearly ready to upload, when I tried some night operation, only to find that some buildings glowed in the dark.

At first the roofs of the 2 mine buildings and the cladding of one of them showed this problem, but changing the value of the specular lighting to 1 in 3DC and re-exporting fixed these structures, but it hasn't fixed the stone walls or the house beyond. All of these have the same properties Blend Tr 50 Diff 60 Ambient 20 Specular 1 Trans 0 (and the rest blank), but they still glow! What have I done this time?

I suspect that the buildings still are set to a specular value of 0. I've found that for whatever reason, it sometimes takes more than one resetting of a texture for the setting you want to take hold. I don't know why this happens or which programs are at fault but it simply happens. When I've had this happen on some of my models, I've found that selecting the whole model globally and making the change will sometimes get a setting that otherwise gets missed on a part by part basis. It's the only suggestion I can think of. If that doesn't do it I'm probably at a loss.

If your route is for MSTS, this is where Shape File Manager comes into its own.....
Load each shape and view the Texture Modes....and change all to "Normal".....or at least I think it's normal.

Thanks for your repsonses gentlemen, though I'm afraid that I am not any further forward - yet. The walls are single objects, so there aren't any lurking specular zeroes (though I would be grateful if you could tell me how to change the properties of a group or heirarchy), and SFM doesn't fix it either, I even tried dark shade, but it still looks the same. I suspect that all the objects concerned have been through a 3dc upgrade, so I am now trying to build one of the walls from scratch with the same textures and see what is different.
ps I have just redone one of the walls and, surprise, surprise, it shows the proper characteristics of sedimentary rock in the dark. I was hoping to find some obvious difference in the 2 shape files, but can't see anything obvious.

Thanks very much! I was so convinced that it was a 3DC problem (having had the problems with specular lighting before), that I went all the way through this forum but never thought to look anywhere else. The problem was a non zero value in the alternative_texure of the sd file in cases where the standard texture had been copied to the night textures folder. I amended all the sd files and the problem has gone away.
Thanks again, and next time I will look a bit further.
