Downloaded, installed and on attempting to run the program, got a dialog box "Unable to Configure DirectX. Please ensure ... (#-2147221503). OS is Vista, up to date, and NVidia 163.69 drivers.

Have posted on the Amabilis forum.

There is already a reply on the 3DC forums - you must have UAC turned on for Vista.

Always turned on, Paul. Have just checked in case, and it is ON.

It's of no help to you, I realise, but I have run canvas ok, using those drivers on a vista system.

Just remembered. I had that error message when i tried to "run it as an administrator"

Cheers,
Kevin

Paul (pauls), you need to get this one, the latest, 7.0.4.

I have solved my problem. It seems the program doesn't like being installed on a drive other than C:\, now to find out how to export to RS etc.

good news John - I have heard Vista doesn't like programs installed outside of the "program files" folder.

Richard posted some info on how to export to RS on the amabilis forums - looks like we have a few successes already.

Good question, I wasn't sure.

According to the download site
http://www.amabilis.com/whatsnew.htm

It says (3D canvas Pro Feature) next to the description of the plugin.

Pro is the best one to have as it allows all the extra free plugins and scripts to be used.

With the current exchange rate of $2 to the pound, it's a good time to buy.

Imported a TSM created 3A CL signal into 3DC, used the same .bmp texture and retextured the head very dark grey (head1) and the post (signal) white and exported to an RS igs file. Have still to ToAce the bitmap but I'm not fully with the RS side of things as yet, still to make a blueprint. Time for a cuppa and a read of the RS Signal Setup & Scripting Guide, mostly the setup as using what is already there for scripting seems to be the best option for now, let's get a working model first.

Looks like you have the same Idea as me, my first exploit is a coach, once I have this sorted I'll move onto technical stuff like Loco's etc.

I think the 2 priorities right now have to be scenery objects and signals, plus rolling stock.

Will be nice to see what these models are like in the new engine.

Tim, getting them into RS will be the fiddly bit :) Iv not got much hair left after trying to get a route started, let alone built ;)

Creating an IGX file from a simple model building was painless, and setting it up in Asset Manager went ok, but...

Either ToAce or the Asset Manager converter does not seem to work for me. I have a 256x256 .bmp file but after ToAce and then running it through the Asset Manager, my model is red all over. Using RS Bin Tool, I can see that the TgPCdX texture file created is all red. If I manually create the .dds file from my .bmp and use RS Bin Tool to recreate the TgPCdX file, my model looks right in the Route Editor.
