I've just had an email from a girlfriend of mine asking about the Hogwarts train. Olton Hall isn't it? Anyways her kid wants to see it and she wondered where it is these days and wether it's out running anywhere soon.
Can anyone out there make me appear knowledgeable to her?

According to UKSteam.info she is currently in Fort William after running an ECS from Carnforth - Fort William on the 16th of this month.
Worth keeping an eye on this for mainline locomotive movements:

On the tours page however, she isn't booked for anything, and according to that she has only operated two tours this year. On the 18th of July she ran a tour from London Paddington to Oxford, the next day she ran the Shakespeare Express between Birmingham Snow Hill and Stratford twice. She also went to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway earlier this year to take part in their gala. Between the 20th of July and 7th September she was at York before going back to Carnforth.

As Kieran says, Olton Hall is currently in Scotland for filming of sequences for the final two films in the franchise - parts 1 and 2 of The Deathly Hallows. At some point it will return south, but only as far as the West Coast Railway Company's base at Carnforth.
It did make a foray into London on a Harry Potter themed special this summer, but I suspect you would have to wait until the next movie premier to see a repeat.

Dan

Keep an eye out tonight - it's heading south at the mo to Carnforth (just passed Lockerbie I believe) behind 37516.
