IC West Coast - Motorail

Hi all,

Got a query for anyone who remembers seeing this. I moved to Stafford in mid-1994 and for at least a couple of years (probably until privatisation) I clearly remember seeing selected regular express services into and out of Euston carrying Motorail vehicles. I remember some massive trains, even 14-15 coaches (including the DVT in between the FOs and the trailing vans! Or even the loco in between.)

I'm aware that up until the early 90s there were special Motorail services, but these were regular passenger trains.

Does anyone have any clear knowledge of which trains carried these vehicles and over what routes? Being 8yrs old in 1994, my memories are anything but clear :)

Many thanks!

Seb

I believe one such was The Clansman - London Euston to Inverness via Birmingham New Street.
