ATW 150 at Man Picc - 175 Shortage?

Post by ArrivaTrains »

Hi,

Todays 1430 Man Picc to Milford Haven was formed of a 150.

Is this a regular diagram or are ATW short of units??

It probably ran as a Cl.150 due to unit failure, IIRC all but one return working are diagrammed for 3 car Cl.175 units (the one is booked for a 158).

Its definitely not diagrammed for a Cl.150. They sometimes turn up on the Cardiff-Holyheads for the same reason.

FGW have several Cl.150 units in ATW livery but they never actually reached ATW, FGW insisted that the DfT let them keep them (they were fresh out of London Midland and on-hire to FGW until ATW needed them for the Merthyr half-hourly - which has now been resourced internally!)

That makes sense. I didn't think ATW had taken over the Cardiff - Portsmouth  Especially when a FGW 158 went the other way

However FGW do have an ex Silverlink 150/1 on their books to provide extra capacity on Cardiff-Taunton and Bristol-Weymouth trains, though I have travelled on it from Romsey to Westbury.

Unusually for a 150 it has longitudal as well as transverse seating - I got to see the countryside sideways that day!

Any 150s I've been on have had that. One in the Hope Valley, one from Sheffield on the Leeds via Moorthorpe run and one from Stockport to Chester
