Two Questions about Lymington and Rovers

Hey all,

I'm planning a trip to Lymington Port next Wednesday to get a ride on the MK1s before they're withdrawn, but I've rather hit a stumbling block in the fact that I'd want to do more in the area than just go on that particular line, so...

1. Firstly, does anyone know roughly when they're actually planning to withdraw the MK1s? They've already taken out one train, and it'd be just my luck if I turned up the day after they removed the other one.

2. Are there any Rovers available from South West Trains in the area? A look at Barry Doe's recent rover review article in RAIL didn't yield anything, and neither did a search on the website.

I knew that if I could get the answers anywhere, it'd be here. :)

Cheers,
Richard

Riche, the only rovers valid over that side of the country is the all line rover im pretty sure. Unless you want to pay £489 for 7 days or £650 for a 14 day all line, then returns could be your only option. :)

You can get this one:

Freedom of the South West: £70 for 3 days travel in the space of one week.

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_far ... tails.html

Valid as far north as Worcester, as far west as Cardiff & Penzance, south as far as Weymouth & Paignton and as far east as Portsmouth, Swindon & Westbury.

Valid after 9am weekdays, and all day at weekends.

I beleive the slammers will be taken out of service around September time or possibly end of this year. Both are still used but they swap each week (The Green one will work one week then the Blue Grey one will do the next). Sometimes they have a Desiro doing the branch (such as this weekend), plus they maybe testing 158's again.

Andy.
