nice but indeed a waste of money, the boiler hasnt been touched and its not for the mainline Yorks its er.... final destination so to speak. due to the difficulties of routine maintainance it would need on the mainline

Where have you heard that? Quite frankly I can't believe they'd have gone to the bother of rebuilding her to a slightly new profile to fit the current loading gauge for one short trip between Tyseley and the NRM.
