What they are doing here is holding a strike without having to go to the inconvenience of telling people in advance.
I'm afraid that wouldn't be lawful
Our laws now ban strikes, introduced by the Tories.
However if you can meet certain criteria ,there are protections under that law.

Oh, I'm well aware you aren't allowed to call it a strike. But as it has the same effect on me - the travelling public - then it may as well be the same thing - legal definitions are irrelevant - the fact the crew aren't turning up for work to make a point and are doing it in a way so that they don't have to make it official is infuriating.

I would complain to EMT or maybe the rail regulator ?
Surely EMT cannot just cancel advertised services ?
Maybe you could claim compensation.
Until a company is forced to the negotiation table, they will resist.
The only important thing to private companies is profit.
If you think they care about staff , or even their customers you are sadly mistaken.
