Hi
Just been looking on http://www.kwvr.co.uk and I am puzzled. lol
It says that 30777 Sir Fail-A-Lot, sorry Sir Lamiel, will be visiting for a few weeks over Christmas and could be running a few days on the line.
(30777 is doing a tour on Saturday from York to Edinburgh then leaving York on Sunday at 13:42 and arrive at KWVR at 16:05)
I was just wondering Why? I didnt think 30777 would be allowed on the Worth Valley again after the last 2 times it was there. Could it be just a sorry for the problems on the 40th anniversary it had?
Dave

Hi
As Sir Lamiel ever done York to Edinburgh?
Anyway an update on http://www.kwvr.co.uk says that it is expected that the locomotive will haul service trains on the weekend of 3rd and 4th January 2009.
I wonder what the headline will be on the KWVR website on the Monday
Either
Finally 30777 Sir Lamiel runs on the branch with no problems.
Or
OH NO NOT AGAIN - Lamiel Fails For The 3rd Time. Lol (Sorry)
I am still puzzled why it is going to The Worth Valley

Come,Lamiel isn't the most unreliable engine! Which failures are you thinking of? I doubt a Southern 4-6-0 has ever been to Edingburgh let alone 30777! Anyone know?

King Arthurs were sent to Scotland during the Second World War, so it is likely that they have been to Edinburgh before.
To be fair I think it was just bad luck that 30777 has failed twice when visiting the KWVR. Anyway, third time lucky
Regards,
Dan

Come on, Lamiel has got a pretty good main line record both this time round and the one before the last overhaul, its just unfortunate there has been a couple of teething troubles. An awful lot of time, dedication, expence, pure grit and determination goes into making these machines run in the first place, reliable safe and authentic. It is easy to critisize from the sidelines. It is much more safety critical to 'fail' locomotives at an early stage these days, where before one could 'patch up' and carry on. Just for the record some King Arthurs were built under licence in Scotland by the North British Locomotive Company, I think Lamiel was one of them.

Great Western? Is'nt that the branch line that joins the Southern at Reading?

Hi
I was behind lamiel last year on the dalesman up settle carlisle railway quite a few times and had no problem.
My original comment was it seems to have problems when visiting the KWVR
