Hi
Keighley Worth Valley have announced the following
The Britannia Class Pacific No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' and BR Standard 4 No. 76079 will be the guest locomotives at the next Steam Gala on 13th, 14th & 15th February 2009..
Most people already knew about Cromwell.
When I noticed 76079 was visiting it gave me an idea which I have already emailed to KWVR.
As these 2 engines are normally ok on mainline then why not try the KWVR to Ribblehead and back like they tried on the 40th anniversary.
They could top n tail and say for example Cromwell takes the tour to Ribblehead and 76079 brings back.
From what people have been saying it would be good to do this as a regular run.
What do other people think?
Dave

Re: KWVR Gala Next Feb
Looks a good gala- the gala organisers (whom I know) have done well to get Cromwell in.
I think it will stay on KWVR, not to belittle the main line suggestion I think, with Cromwell especially it will be seen as an opportunity for people in that part of the world to travel behind it cheaply on a preserved line, possibly a rare chance. On the other hand 76079, has been to KWVR several times before and is resident not a million miles from KWVR on ELR, so I don't think there would be many objections to it being engaged in a mainline run rather out of and into the gala. But, I think if main line was on the agenda I'd have been excitedly told about that one by now, as it'd take a fair bit of planning.......
