Queensbury Triangle

Post by RobertM »

Hi all,

I am trying to make some acts for the Queensbury Triangle route & want some info, I am aiming for mid 60's, early BR green diesels with steam, and what the local movements were between Halifax, Bradford & Keighly, with regards to freight and passanger.

Cheers.

Rob, regular passenger services finished in 1955 so no diesels other than a Derby lightweight unit on driver training over the Keighley - Queensbury line in 1955,
and a six car Calder Valley 110, RCTS special which visited Queensbury in 1964.
Passenger services were exclusively in the hands of the N1 tanks with two suburban coaches, freight could be a B1, Black 5 or J50 ( Ardsley tank ).
After closure Bradford Halifax trains travelled via Low Moor and Hipperholme, Bradford Keighley trains run from Forster Square via Shipley, and of course, are now under the wires.
Bradford Exchange closed it's doors in 1979, a new station was built ( Bradford Interchange ) a bit further up the line, leaving the old site for future development.

Got abit distracted, but back on the Triangle now.

Thanks Chris, very useful info there, much appreciated.

What were the freight movments like, I'm guessing coal was the main one, was there much else? And where would these run too & from (I'm trying to create acts too & from all 3 main ends of the line).

Also, what would be found knocking around Bradford station (for eye candy)?
