I was just going by what the train booking websites say. They say there's a direct service from London Euston-Birmingham International. But not back again. Checking it again it says there's only the return direct journeys available this Saturday and the Saturday after.

And why are they called Blockbuster services?

Because they're "busting" the blockade at Rugby, and providing actual trains to London...

It's one of those "why didn't they think of that earlier?" ones. And I'm sure those who did think of it have asked themselves that very question.

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September.

First Great Western services between London and South Wales(and vice versa) running a diverted route from Swindon-Pathchway(where it will call instead of Bristol Parkway). From Swindon services will run non-stop to Patchway via Chippenham, Bath, St Annes, and the GWR "Rhubarb Loop" through to Filton Abbey Wood and Patchway.

Not really that Interesting, Least not compared to last Friday's 7:37 Paignton to Paddington... Lets just say the stock was lacking in bogies until Bristol (where it gained a Link of Silver)

Can ya tell what it is yet?

Yes, XPTE.

But your services are completely uninteresting because all you seem interested in is not calling at stations!!

This is generally a disbenefit for those on board who want to get off! :)

LOL yes, well I personally find it quite a novelty and a bit of a treat getting on a train which runs via Chippenham and Bath but doesn't actually stop at those stations. As I'm so used to getting on trains and hearing "Ladies and gentleman, now approaching Chippenham" or "Ladies and gentlemen, now approacing Bath Spa.". So makes a refreshing change from the "same old, same old" to ever be on trains that don't stop there. Likewise any services which runs fast not calling at stations which they normally typically do I find interesting. The longer the journey between station stops the more enjoyable and relaxing journey it makes. Am not a big fan of these services which stops at stations no more than 5 minutes apart from each other.

Appologies this thread is very First Great Western based. That's the services I'm most familiar with, so am able to spot the few interesting services that they do run. I've had a search around the other train companies but can't really find anything that special, apart from thse diverted London-Birmingham Internation services. Maybe this thread could do with a few more contributors pointing out the intereresting services from their local train companies.
